Does your NAVI system require time to "warm-up" (brightness)

06 TSX NAVI here. When I turn on my car, the Acura NAVI logo comes up as well as the nag screen. I can barely see the screens because they are so dim. After driving for about 2 minutes, the screen finally brightens up to it's normal set level. This is normal right?

PS The NAVI brightness options are set to max.

This is normal for all LCD displays, especially if they have been off for awhile.

I have an 06 that is 6 month old and there is no warm up time for my Navi screen. I start the car, press the "i" button for the MID and press the joystick to click "OK" for the Navi. The screen brightness always shown at the level I set it in the menu settings, no warm up time (so far).

Maybe it depends where you have the brightness set. Mine takes a few seconds to reach full blrightness as well. Not a problem. It been like that since new.

Mine takes a few moments. Might have to do with the air temperature (colder may take longer).

Mine doesn't need any warm up

Are you saying that your screen is still dim after driving off? The acura logo and nag screen are at full brightness...it's kind of annoying when I get into my car on a dark street

Now, if I turn the car on, and then turn the head lights on, it lags a little bit to dim the navi for me

what you mighttt be referring to, is if your headlights are on and you start the car, the Acura logo screen will appear dim.. especially starting the car up during the day with the headlights on.

all else fails try this..

I wonder if the color combo or brightness/contrast might change warm-up times. I changed my screen Navi colors to blue at night and beige during the day. I also adjusted my contrast/brightness levels a little on the darker side (35% tint all around, I keep the moon roof panel closed, lots of black with quarts interior). I’ve tried to match the Navi colors to the night ambient LED blues brightness.

If that is not the case, what about the knob that controls the dash/Navi brightness next to the fuel gauge? Is this knob turned all the way up or down?

Nope, this isnt what he's referring to. Lights on or off, Navi on the dim or bright selection, dosent matter, there is a slight warm-up time. And its more prevalent if the car has been sitting for a while or if its very cold out...

Mr Gold-

Is there a way to turn off the welcome (OK Button) when you turn the car on; it would be nice if the map would turn on right away? I havent read the NAVI manual yet and it may indicate a setting to bypass the welcome screen....

We call it the nag screen, and people have been asking this question for the longest time. It requires some hacking by skillful programmers...and I think it's only been successfully performed on the 2004/2005 TSX

The TL folk figured out a way to eliminate the OK button, but I'm not sure the same procedures would work for the TSX Navi.

My college major was computer science and I would not attempt to hack my Navi system because the reward is not worth the risk.

^^ they found a way to get rid of the screen but you still have to wait because while the nag screen is on the OS is loading...

I found today for the first time that my Navi screen took some time to warm up, but it's getting cold up here finally, so i'm pretty sure it's the cold that affected the LCD screen and took it a few minutes to 'warm-up' ...

You can always move to help the Navi screen warm-up, it will be 80 degrees today here in New Mexico.
