Finally got to see the pics at home. Damn! it got hitted pretty hard and I'm glad your lady wasn't hurt. Despite the fact the airbag didn't deploy, the frame struture held intact to protect the people inside. I do hope they total the car so you can get a new one.

Not sure if this is relevant or not but my fiancee hit a deer with her Z3. The damage was significant from trunk height and back, not much damage to the bumper. It looked a lot like the damage I see from your picture. Are the front airbag sensors only in the bumper or are they also located in the engine compartment? Either way, that still doesn't explain why the passenger bag went off and the driver's didn't. Hope someone figures that out.

hey man, sorry to hear about what happened, hope your wifey is alrighty.
whether it is totaled or not really depends on the insurance company, some consider a car totaled if the airbags deploy indicating rather hard impact, along with frame damage.
concerning the airbags, i really have no clue. i really hope this is an isolated incident and not more tsx's are affected by this, a lot of people can get hurt. and for sure milk this durango sob for all hes worth, make sure your wife gets every medical procedure known to man checked on her and make his sorry ass pay, better safe for u and sorry for him!!

sorry. i thought the crack was on the driver side.

my dad deals with this all the time and he couldn't explain why one air bag deployed and not the other... especially the driver side not going off (you can shut off the passenger side on most cars).

this just tells me that a crash sensor must be activated before the bag goes off... instead of a gforce censor in the bag itself. meaning... if gforce is greater than X, deploy bag.
