JAPAN!
Well that may not surprise any of you who did your research before you bought your TSX!
Personally this was a contributing factor to me buying the car. I feel the reliablity will be pretty impressive because of this. Not too many cars are assembled in Japan anymore.
I also found out that if you look at your VIN the first digit/letter will tell you where your car was manufactured.
See below:
J - Japan
1 - USA
2 - Canada
3 - Mexico
Of course our VIN's start with a J

I think Honda has been shifting Odyssey assembly from the Honda Canadian Manufacturing (HCM) plant in Alliston, Ontario to the new plant in Lincoln, Alabama. All of the all-new 2005 Odysseys will be built in Alabama.

I've owned 2 Hondas made in Ohio and 2 made in Japan, one of which is my (Honda) Acura TSX--all four are Accords.
In my samples, there are absolutely no shortcomings in quality or reliability in the Ohio-made Hondas.
My first Ohio-made Honda hit over 200,000 with no engine problems or repairs and no tranny or clutch problems or repairs.
OK, granted, the doors sagged a bit, and the A/C went out, but all Accords of that timeframe had crappy A/C.
The second Ohio-made Honda is turning 14 years old soon and currently and has nearly 120,000 miles--no engine problems, except a very cheap distributor replacement and a very inexpensive ignition relay part problem. It has the original clutch and tranny, and neither have had any repairs on them. Oh, the A/C coolant died last year after 13 years, and I had to have a new A/C coolant setup installed last year. Most the car's exterior lights are factory original--after nearly 14 years.
I wouldn't hesitate a minute if the TSX had been built in the US or Canada rather than Japan.

Most comes from Canada. The hatchback comes from England I read.
Please, details, details and costs... I am at 75000 miles, no repairs yet except distributor cap. But the check engine is on and I have taken the codes; I have an appointment this week. I hope it won't cost much.

Some guy in a body shop told me the Civic's quality and reliability has fallen in recent years. He told me there was some article on the subject where the Elantra out scored the civic now for reliablility. He blamed it on the fact they were not made in Japan anymore.
Has anyone else heard this or seen this article? While I think the Japanese make and assemble great cars I'd like to think that other countries could assemble them properly too!

Given that most Civics in the last decade were made in NA, I'm curious on exactly what model year the article was referring to.
