Disable ... the air bags?
Throwing caution to the wind, I'll ask a question that I know we don't want to answer in public.
Preparing for a SCCA PDX event this weekend, I read the preparation and guidelines suggest...
Okay, but looking at the fuse box data, I don't see how this can be done. Thinking over a pale ale, I thought, no wait, they won't give you a way to do this,... would they?
If you think you know, send me a PM and include your SCCA number if ya got one. Anyone going to March Memories at VIR?

... If full face helmets are in use, it is recommended that you disable the air bags for the duration of the event.

follow the instructions to disable the airbags for working on them (normally disconnecting the battery for so many minutes) then unhook them, and remove them from the car, and store safely
, then when you are done with the event, follow the same basic procedure, but put the bags back in, then clear the codes in the Airbag module
simple enough

Oh, yikes. Right, maintenance procedure, thanks for the reminder.
That's a bit more than I think I'd want to do for a 2 hour event. I do have to drive it back to the hotel with safety equipment working.
Bet someone in the tech shed will tell me how, or ... that I don't need to.
BTW, apologies to mod if this should've been posted in the race section. Please move if appropriate. <

you might be able to also, just leave them in the vehicle too, just disconnected, but yeah TECH will have to clarify that for you though, maybe email the SCCA to verify
and personally unless you have a 5/6-point race harness installed, i would still leave them connected
btw yeah if you do disable them, you are going to have an airbag light on
edit: and there is a reason for them not being easily disabled, they are a safety item after all.... (and if used properly, can be a lifesaver, but can also be extremely dangerous though, if not respected and treated as such; ie: a local stereo installer, a couple of years ago, cut the wrong wire underneth the dash, while sitting in the seat, leaned forward, his neck did not like it too much...)
