did I damage my clutch?

did I damage my clutch?
got a 2006 honda accord 2.0 manual (same as tsx) and today I found myself in a village with a very steep uphill 10metre section. This part was also stone paved , had a turn and was very narrow so I couldn't go fast so I was in 1st gear just driving up.
The car stalled and was going to go out and was reversing.
So I pushed the brakes and pulled the hand brake, revved up a bit(around 3-5k rpm) and slowly released the clutch while riding it a bit and got up the uphill.
At this point, I was smelling a burning rubbery smell. The engine didnt overheat, the car is driving normally and there was no smoke either and the smell soon went away.
Why did this happen and did I damage anything?
I ve driven hunderds of thousands of kilometres using different manual cars and this never happened before.
Help!!

Part of the joy/pain of a manual transmission. Occasionally, you will find yourself in situation as you describe; steep hill and stopped. No other way to start other than to slip the clutch, until you gain speed, then release completely.
I don't know how long you slipped the clutch, but anything over 5-10 secs is excessive. If this was a one-time thing, I doubt any significant damage. The smell was burnt clutch disc material. Use of ebrake w/ proper clutch management can minimize slip in this situation.
I don't know about the manual TSX, but earlier manual 2.2L Acura CL's (my daughter had a 97 Acura 2.2CL) were geared too high for 1st gear and accelerating from a stop on a steep inclince was excessively difficuit IMO. This might have been a part of your problem also.
good luck
