I told my dealer not to place a dealer badge onto the car. I think this thread is about the "Acura" and "TSX" badges, though.

IMHO, gives a classier and cleaner look to the rear of the car, it puts the attention on the car itself instead of on a brand.
Being very picky I also was fed up with cleaning the wax around the letters, big waste of time every 2 weeks.

last night was the first time i saw my own car at night on the road since my brother drove my car and i was following in another car. i noticed how much better the car looks without badges because the headlights light didn't reflect off them; the tsx tail lights/reflectors stand out much better.

I just debadged my Acura and TSX emblems. I really like the look and I also put the Rear M3 Trunk Lip too! The car looks so much sportier now, but still with the luxury/classy look!

I debadged mine because I just like a clean, classy look. I hate labels period; no matter what they say. I wont even were a shirt with POLO across the front. However, I dress very classy and cool. I like to put plain things together to create a nice overall package.

Same translates into my car for me. I want a clean classy look with all the my aftermarket additions adding to the cleanliness of the car, not to the clutter. For that reason, i hate carbon fiber, stickers, obnoxious coffee can exhausts, etc.

That's my rational, everyone has their own.

Aren't there holes beneath either of the badges (not the mid-rear "A") that you have to fill and paint over or are they just glued on?

I agree 100%. The only reason for labels (badges) are for free advertisement. Someone looks at your car/shirt (whatever) and then they know where to start looking to buy one of their own. Most importantly I will never advertise a product unless I am getting paid for it. Acura makes $ off of me when I buy the car, why should I be a marketing tool for them as well? Who wants to be a tool of a big company anyhow? Unless you are getting paid for being a tool I would say never. In addition all of my snowboard gear has also been "debadged" so nobody can tell what kind of board or clothes I am sporting. I guess I am just a debadging freak.

Well.....to a car lover, a car from the dealer is an unfinish art item.

We will customise it (whether to lower it, big rims, tint the glass, add on bodykit, debadge ..... blah blah blah) ..... to a finish artwork ... or your own representation on how THE car will look like !

A mate has always mention to me, you can tell how's the person character by how he does up his car ( just like how one dress up your clothes)

...... well, I'll never be content in any car in it's stock form (whether TSX or any super car) ..... there's always room for improvement to present YOUR way !

Personally for me I think it looks cleaner and makes waxing a lot easier.

Totally agree. The less crap to get the wax crust stuck in the better.

Do you suppose it is 9 months is too long to wait for debadging? I'm guessing that the paint doesn't fade or anything like that.

Na, I would think your car would need to be many years old before that might be a problem.

Nope. I've had mine for 2x that long and just took them off this weekend. Just use a little cleaner wax after you take them off and it'll look great.

Do it ASAP. My NBP Accord was debadged (yes it was an accident, and the trunk got repainted, and the dealer put it on crooked so I just took it off). Where the badge was are now the word "Accord" lightly etched into the clearcoat. The adhesive after a while will eat into the paint (just slightly). If you have a silver car then you probably won't notice. With NBP it's only noticeable in certain lights/angle and only if you look closely.

Meh, I'm really not all that interested in doing it. I like the look of the car with the badges, I just don't like waxing around the letters.

Anyone remeber my little "poll"?

Heh, just joking, I know that's not it -- I can't wait for my TSX and I'll be proud when I finally own one -- so then what's the advantage other than to reveal a few more square inches of paint? Just trying to understand the appeal...
Your exactly right....there is no real point to it. In fact, I had a poll a few weeks back and about 80% of people agreed with me that debadging is both lame and :ghey: .....probably a few here who still hold grudges about that, but I have to speak up when this crap comes up.

As far as the agrument of adding to the "what kind of car is that factor", anyone who appreciates cars knows what a TSX is.

Well, to each his own. Like I said, I was just trying to understand the appeal, just out of curiosity. I didn't want to put anybody down for doing it or not doing it.

I kind of think I'm still with the badged people. I just sort of like having the logos on there; to me it does actually make the car look like it's missing something if they're off, and it somehow makes the car look "cheaper," although I'm not sure why it appears to me that way. It just does. It's funny that people's perceptions on that are different, though. Just a few posts from each other, one guy says that having the badges on makes the car look cheaper, while another says having them off looks cheaper. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

ahh... another debaging debate thread... most fun

I just had a new thought about it though...

Debaging is a personal preference... kind of like if one likes it shaven or not

I was just trying to draw an analogy to point out it's all a personal preference... ok, may not be a very good one but both involve "shaving"... thought it was worth a go

While I may or may not agree with having the badges off makes the car look cheaper, I cannot see how having the badges on would make the car look cheaper. :shakehead

i remember when removing the rear insignia became popular in the early 1980's on german cars as an anti-status symbol. your s450 could be mistaken for an s280, and then you could blow someone away when they thought all you had was an enemic oil burner... of course add some wide tires to an s280, and you could tell that hotty that would never give you the time of day that it was an s450...

Well, those who remove the badges all say that they're going for a cleaner/classier look and "guess what kind of car I'm driving/I don't need to advertise freely for Honda/Acura" factor. These, I think everyone has to agree with. Obviously, not having the badges is "cleaner" than having them on.

How we go from "cleaner" to "cheaper" is where I fail to understand.
