Dealing with a Dealer...
I recently had to take my TSX in for its first service (well, the first service since I bought the car in June) and the Maintenance Minder was telling me that I needed a B1, so I told the local Acura dealer (Acura of Athens, in Athens, GA; I am at UGA as a freshman) that I wanted that.
$192 later (yes, a bit pricey, I know...) I come out to my car and look at the tires and feel as if they were not rotated. How do I know? Well, when I bought the car, the selling dealer replaced the 2 front tires so the 2 front tires have different production dates than the two rear tires, which are original to the car (front tires produced in 2009, back tires produced in 2006). The 2 front tires were still up front, but I figured maybe they just rotated left to right and didn't move the back tires up front or vice versa.
Last week, my TPMS light came on telling me my right rear tire was low on air. The problem is that before the tire rotation, that same tire would pop up on the TPMS and be low on air about once a month. (solution: just add air; I added air back into the tire and the light went away) So now I am pretty sure they didn't rotate the tires and simply charged me $19.95 for it.
Problem is, I have no solid evidence, just my suspicions. What should I do now? I am thinking of just not going there for future services and taking the TSX and my future business over the next 4 years I'm here to the Honda dealer down the street or to an Acura dealer in Atlanta. But, I also kind of would like my $19.95 (ok, it is my parent's money, but still... $20 is a lot to waste) back especially since they obviously didn't do the work.
Also, while the back tires and front tires are worn about equal and have plenty of life left, should I change the tires out? I went to Sam's Club right after buying the car and asked to have the 2 back tires replaced with the same tires on the front and the tire manager told me I didn't need new tires at all and just told me to get the tires rotated regularly.
