Dealership experience at honda

hey guys i went into a honda dealership today. i was looking at the new 2006 SI. i must say that it was pretty lovely. the car was pretty good. i got to test drive the si and it was pretty nice i didnt get to go too fast but it was pretty fast. it is really jumpy because it is so light. every time you shift it like jumps out of its shoes its really nice. but the problem was they were only gonna give me like 22500 for my tsx. i paided like 30k for my car. ive only had it for 3 months, its got 5k miles that have only been from the highway. i dont know if its such a smart idea. they want 21k for the new si what should i do. my parents i should just keep what i got and im planned to do that but the si is pretty sexy. sigh

NEVER trade in a car at the dealer. Especially since you TSX is like new. All the dealer does is buy your car for $22k and then a few days later the car is going have a price tag of $28k on their lot.

Trading in cars is not a smart thing to do.

Sell it privately and im sure you will get more money for it..

www.autotrader.com is your friend.

^ dealers just rip you off, even to remove a ding on the car they'll charge a couple hundred and just pay their dent wizard < $50 to remove it.

While I agree, the dealer is not going to give you a great deal on the trade-in, you have two factors working against you, your '05.....you will not get much of a trade-in value as the car is so new and you lost thousands when you drove it off the lot the day you bought it. #2 - The Si is Red Hot, you would be lucky to buy it at MSRP, most people are having to pay over MSRP, some, even thousands.

I wouldn't say it is a bad thing to trade-in, exspecially in WA state where the sales tax is 8.9%. While I may not get as much trade in from a dealer as I would from a private party, I do get the sales tax savings, which would make up the difference.

You might want to wait until the '07 Si's begin to hit the lot and give it another shot, by then, supply should have somewhat caught up with demand and you will be able to negotiate a little more on an Si.

I agree, it is one hot and fun car to drive.....it is what we were going to buy, but we wanted all the luxery of the TSX!

Looking back maybe I should have test driven the SI and try to buy it at MSRP.

Your car is only 3 months old? Didn't you shop around before buying? Just chill with the ride you have and be happy with it, for pete's sake.

This is just a spectulation: No offense.

This is what happends when mommy and daddy buy a VERY nice first car at a very young age. Young people these days just dont have any appreciation of what they get from their parents. I would NEVER think of trading in a new TSX for a boy racer 06 civic SI. Be happy of what you got the TSX is a nicer car!!

Use the money you will loose to dealer to buy performance parts to beef up your TSX instead. I am sure there is enough of $$$ to do that.

What you need to do is buy a clue. Then share it with your parents.

What the hell did you do to "deserve" 3 brand fucking new cars in the past few years? Not fail school?

Spoiled rich bitches piss me off. Here's some homework for you (impress your parents with the skill involved in this and they might buy you a Ferrarri): Research your cars before you ask mommy and daddy for your allowance

Sad. They are teaching you nothing. You should work on appreciating what you have.

Spoken like a true 18 year old. I guess I was born in the wrong family of having to earn my own way and appreciate things. Anyway....

If you get the Si, what cars is next in 6 months after you tire of the Si? Maybe you should just buy that car now and skip the Si?!

Someone should go to Boston and smack your parents over the head with a sack of their money. You've had three brand-new around $30k cars and you're only 18? And now you want to take a 3-month old car and get rid of it?

Quit being such a burden on your parents and make your own damn money to buy your own damn cars. It's one thing if they buy you one car. It's a whole different story when they buy you three cars in as many years and you want to get another one 3 months after the most recent one. Ridiculous...

hmmmm really the tsx isnt to mod friendly is that so, I havent had any problems modding my tsx.

So maybe the correct thing your looking for is that the tsx isnt to RICER moding friendly. However there are many body kits (6), many different suspension (more than (10), big brake kits (4), intakes (6), exhausts, (more than 6), I mean how much more do you want. Why do you want a civic like everyone else too. You can mod a tsx and be different and stand out. Or do you consider getting a new car every 4 - 5 months your way of standing out.

I'm having a hard time trying to interpret this. You've obviously spent a lot of time at Acurazine. I've only been here a few weeks, but the modifications people are doing to these cars have been an eye-opener. I won't be doing anything to my TSX, but if I was 18 and could scrape together a few $thousand, I sure would. Nothing wrong with the Civic, but you've already got champaign - why go back to beer?

hmm I'm only 16 and my first car is a 95 Honda Civic, that i still drive till the day that I actually buy myself a second car. Since i've just started driving it made sense that i would have a wooptie car for the first car. I would have loved to have a TL or a TSX. Having a nice car at my age just doesnt seem smart in some ways. You're pretty lucky to have had 3 brand new cars already at the age of 18. I would also say I've deserved what i have but I dont go asking for brand new cars. Until I can afford the TSX in a couple of years (im saving money) to buy it myself I'll actually be able to say that I earned my car.

Now why would anyone give up an STi for a TSX. I mean I would only for the comfort and daily driving, but if you seek power. You had it one car ago. Kid's these days..

OMG I can't believe you want to trade-in your TSX after a few months! You couldn't pay me to give up the car.

You should sell it and get that civic you want. JMO - I don't think you'll ever appreciate the TSX like the owners on here and it would be better off with someone who would. Hopefully you'll learn from this experience.

Good Luck
