Dealer being stupid...

Hi,

Oka, so when I leased my car I negotiated getting the Acura iLinc (the ipod adapater)....If I were to buy it, i twould cost around $300 for the hardware and $150 for the installation.

I told my dealer I'd rather have the DICE unit tho and that they should pay for that instead of the Acura one.

My salesman is trying to give me the winter mats instead, claiming that they sell for $250 instead of the $130 I know they cost. He's also saying that he structured the deal with only $200 instead of the $450 that it would cost me to buy and install the iLinc.

I don't think it's unreasonable to get the DICE unit AND winter mats in exchange for not getting the agreed upon iLinc.

What do you guys think I should do?

If you did not get it in writing, then basically it is your word against theirs. Not much then except to complain to management

If you strayed from the original deal, they are under no obligation to give you anything. If they offer you anything, it will be out of goodwill.

Yes, if it's not in writing, then too bad. When signing a financial contract (ie: for your car), be sure to get everything in writing before you sign. Once you sign, it's a done deal and amendments cannot be done afterwards (otherwise they could go back in and charge you more, etc.).

You can argue with them and work your way up the chain of command to see if someone will give in. But don't expect them to "remember" any verbal agreement...they see many people every day and will need to look up the contract to see what was agreed upon.
