oops i forgot to add however i would keep the McGrath Acura (Chicago and Westmont) license plate frame, it looks pretty nice to me and has a luxury class to it (IMO). but i didn't buy it from there.

in long island, ny many car companies will put a badge on the back of the car. When I get a car from Rallye Motors here in NY, i do not minding having their sign on it because they are a group that owns four dealerships together, which are lexus, mercedes, bmw, and acura. So, it's kind of prestigious to buy cars from them that have their symbol on the cars along with the luxury car logo.

Its basically ADVERTISING for them. I have always specifically asked the dealers NOT to put any stickers on my new car. If they happen to put a license plate frame, I just take it off.

Nothing like resurecting an old thread to PW.

But back on topic - around here most cars above lets say a 5 series are debadged before delivery (an optional line item for BMW). So most cars in the upper level of the car world have nothing on them at all. It's rare to see an S class with any badges on them, dealer or factory.

It's almost the opposite of the US - here people with money want to hide the fact - not flaunt it.

If I got an M5 I'd rebadge it as a 530i.

not only do we like to flaunt it here (US), we ban or not allow or whatever you want to call it, certain cars of "high" end makes as to not comprimise the makes name. for example the A3 or 318. BMW/MB owners do not want to see a low end car in their line up.

The 911 folks got their panties in a bunch when the Boxter's front end looked identical. That is not allowed here, because brand name is everything.

How did we go from talking about dealer (advertising) badges to rebadging cars to a different model...

My dealer (VANDERGRIFF ACURA) didn't put any badge on the car thank god! However, they did put a cheap plastic frame with their dealership name on it. Ofcourse, I took that off ASAP! When I went back to the dealership to have my car serviced, they noticed a new silverchrome frame on it. Its say "PRESTIGE IMPORTS" they told me it was illegal since its covers too much of the license plate.....it reallee doesn't. I told them, my car, I will take my chances with the cops! They are nice to me as always and that was the last I heard of that topic. Meanwhile, I took my front license plate off, My God, that damn plate takes a lot of character away from the TSX. TAKE YOURS OFF, JUST don't get caught speeding or its another ticket!

When I got my S2k and the TL, I just told the dealer not to put the dealer badge on and they didn't. They were at first, kind of err.., but I told them, either take it out or pay me advertising fee of $10 a month.

I told my dealer I would charge them $300/month, so I would be driving the car for free Frames were left off, although when I get good service I feel sort of guilty, but then again that shouldnt be a factor

I have one, but it's unobtrusive, in Acura lettering above the acura on the tail.

No offense to anyone who has dealer stickers/tags or whatever on their new car, but why would anyone leave the tags/stickers on their brand new car? Is there any reason other then the, I don't care syndrome, why anyone will leave that on the car?

Like Millie said, it's free advertising for the dealership. That's why they put it on the car. Most people don't say anything about it. It's not the end of the world, but it's just silly on a car when you see a big ass map of Texas on the rear of the car.
