Convince me to...
Get an 04-06 TSX instead of an 04-06 TL. I know the TSX gets better mileage and handles better, but I like the TL speed! Soooooooo, convince me if you can!
first decide how much you can afford to spend including car insurance costs. Do lots of research which includes test drives, checking service records, carfax, etc. Do you want MT or auto. I decided on the tsx as it had exactly what I wanted
Good advice from nj2pa2nc, as usual.
As for convincing you to get a TSX vs. a TL, how's this:
-The first gen TSX had the highest resale value of any car, (of any brand), from 2005-2008. (That doesn't happen by accident.)
-It was also was the last Acura to win a spot on Car & Driver's "10 Best Cars" list...and it did so THREE straight times. The TL has never even been nominated.
While the TL is a great car, the TSX is a very different driving experience.

Justnspace is correct in saying the TL can get better gas mileage than it was rated by the EPA. But so can the TSX. As has been discussed here, almost all Hondas can get better "real world" gas mileage than their EPA estimates. (And the TSX had higher EPA ratings than the TL.)
Most of the car magazines preferred the 2004-08 TSX over the 2004-08 TL. Drive both cars. Choose for yourself what attributes matter more to you.
One note: the version of the TSX that Car & Driver praised so much was the 6MT. They are rare, but if you can drive a manual, it is worth the search. It is lighter than the auto, (due to the magnesium transfer case), and faster.

TL:
-Assembled in Ohio, USA
-Heavier
-Boaty Handling
-Longer length
TSX on the other hand:
-Assembled in Saitama, Japan
-Amazing Chassis with great Handling
-Better exterior styling IMO
-Better interior styling IMO
-Lighter
I feel Acura(honda) got it "Just Right" with the TSX and those kind of cars come once in a while.
04-08 TSX is truely a Gem the fact the 2nd gen TSX is no where near of the original TSX used to be so grab one if you can get a good deal on a well taken care pre-owned TSX.

Although I feel the TSX is somewhat underpowered, its fine in my opinion. I truly believe its the perfect car.
The thing with the TL is, if you look at it from a certain angle - it looks like a longer version of a 06 Civic. Think of that generation Civc and look at the TL from like 45 degree angle. I can't help but see the Civic.
It blows my mind how for costing more than a TSX, Acura didn't put any chrome along the windows. Personally, I love that touch. Especially with some tint. Just my .2 cents.
Either way, you can't lose. You want an Acura and they're fantastic cars.

There isn't really that much difference between the two models. You can find a TL or TSX around the same amount of $$. The only model I would pick over the TSX is the 07-08 TL-S in 5AT or 6MT. I think that is the best looking TL to date.
I've also felt the TSX was a little under powered; but, I don't complain when I fill up only once every 8-10 days after driving 350 commuter miles. After 80,000 miles the only things I spend money on are:
- Routine scheduled maint
- 2 sets of tires (lifetime balance, alignment, and rotation included)
- 5 sets windshield wipers blades (change out every year)
- Rear brake pads
- Battery
- 2 updated Navi DVDs
- Car washes
- K/N filter cleaning kit
No squeaks or rattles, no worn spots on carpet or seats, and the paint is holding up like a car with 80,000 miles in sandy desert southwest (no need to repaint for another 3-4 years). I have no problems driving this car for another 100,000 miles with routine maint and tires being the main out-of-pocket expense.
The TSX is the best overall vehicle in the Acura line-up.

TL looks better.
can I convince you to not make stupid threads?
Justnspace has TL. Justnspace has crabs, therefor Justnspace gets laid, therfore you get a TL you'll get crabs. But after you get laid.
its a win win.

But these are simply details -- and styling appeal is subjective. And the thing is, all of the posters in this forum are biased about these cars, since most of us own one.
I keep going back to the one area where the (unbiased) automotive press chose one over the other...when Car & Driver called the 1G TSX one of the '10 Best Cars', three years in a row.
