Yes, a must read. You do end up feeling for the salesperson which I didn't think I would.

Thanks for posting it -- great story, greatly written.

But, must admit I couldn't read it all -- not because I wouldn't have liked to, but because of how LOOOOOOOONG it was, just couldn't take the time, although I did spend a lot of time on it. I'd say it would have to take well over an hour to read it all, if not 2 hours or more. (Right, y'all???)

BTW: I didn't see a way to be able to tell how long the whole thing was, except if you decided to just hit all the "Nexts" at the bottom of each page to see how many "Nexts" there would be.

Is there a way to tell with something like this, except by doing that???

Yes, there is a way. Look to the left panel of the window, should have a NAVIGATION there and it shows it has nine parts plus one introduction and glossary.

Apologize for misleading, should say "very long"!

I'd love to see some of the dealers and ex-dealers from our site comment on it.

"That's your customer out there," the manager would say.

"But they said they're only looking," I would answer.

"Only looking? You're going to take that for an answer?" Foam was beginning to form at the corners of the sales manager's mouth. "What the hell kind of salesman are you? Of course they're looking! They're all only looking until they buy. You want them to go across the street and buy a car over there? Because they have real salesmen over there. Now go back out there and sell those people a car. And don't let them leave until they buy or until you turn them over to your closer."

So that's why the car salespeople stick like glue to customers. Their fear of their managers is greater than their fear of offending the customers.

That is the number 1 rule. I am a car salesman (graduated college in may and am currently looking for something in my engineering field). This is the truth, let the salesman help you , HE IS NOT THE ENEMY.....he knows all the cool features, gadgets, bells and whistles, let him show them to you! lolol. This is so true. Some people are so apprehensive and hostile its not even funny. Just talk to me like I'm a scumbag. But if they do, you better believe I throw their ass out the showroom. I try to believe as polite and respectful as possible, but the first time a cuztomer direspects me or treats me like shit, you better believe im going to let him have it.

It's so true how sales ppl (if not most of us) stereotype ppl with nationality/culture/race. I know exactly who the sales was referring to......he thought the first customer was chinese, but the last name "Park" gave it away, he is Korean. Shows how educated the sales was!!!
