Cold Engine

I have a 5AT and when the engine is cold i feel that it doesnt shift properly. 1st - 4th gear is fine...but it won't shift into 5th. But when the engine warms up its fine. Usually when i'm driving around town i go 40mph and the car is crusing at about 1500 rpms in 5th...but when i just pull out of a parking lot or something after the car has been sitting there for a while it runs funny. Is this normal?

a lot of auto trannies will delay shift when the engine is cold. its to warm up the whole car faster.

my audi did this also.
