is there a product out there that'll make the lighter outlet smaller?

asking because i picked up a flashlight that charges via the outlet, but because it doesn't have the tabs to make a snug fit, it's not charging. any ideas?

 

There must be something amiss with the design of that product if it won't fit properly in a 12 V car outlet yet it is touted as working in one. Does it even have metal tabs on the side to accept the ground of the socket? As long as the two connections (front spring loaded +, side tabs -) are there you might be able to just pad the space with some cardboard.

 

yeah....that's the thing. it's a led flashlight designed for vw cars....
