Chrome trim on the TSX

I'm coming from the TL camp and I'm considering adding a 08 TSX to the stable.

I like the TL black molding around the doors.

Has anyone done anything to paint or replace the chrome moldings to the black color?

If I look closely, the black molding on the TL is actually not painted but has a thin plastic-wrap to make it look black.

Where can I get this plastic-wrap?

I'd like to body-color the door handles, too.

The front has chrome trim around it. I'd like to make that the silver-satin like the TL or like the interior satin trim interior TSX car.

As you can see I don't like chrome.

Thanks.

Most people use black-out tape. You can get the jdm trim which is black, but it's very costly considering it's just a few strips of plastic or whatever.

I like the chrome on the door handles, but once I put on my new wheels - I am pretty sure all the chrome with clash with them

(CGP with bronze wheels)

I like the chrome myself. Adds a little bit of class to the car.

I never understood the chrome black-out or debadging (or worse, putting the Honda Accord badges)...

the black out tape is the most common way but very time consuming, especially the rear door top chrome pieces. The door handles are easy and the chrome trim that goes across the bottom of the side windows is easy to get off. It's just one screw then it lifts up. It's set in a channel that seals it.

As far as these mods, each person has diff. tastes. Percsonally I think the black out looks good IF it's done on the right color car and with other supporting mods so that it does not clash or look tacky with other items. I want to run bronze wheels on my ABP but unless I black out the chrome, I think it will look like crap with the chrome showing. Guess diff. strokes for diff. folks

The best way of getting rid of the chrome is to go with the JDM moldings. At about $500 they are not cheap, but it is factory fit and finish perfect.

Coming from a TL (3G right?) you are not necessarily accustomed to getting JDM parts. But the TSX has a wealth more upgrades available if you go outside the USA.

Thanks for the info. As I said this is just my personal preference.

I hit your web site and the "Honda Genuine Front Grille, 06-07 TSX/EuroR Accord CL7, Painted" will replace all the chrome in the front grill, right? I just have an "H" instead of the "A" in the grill?

Do you have the body-colored door handles, too?

Yes, you are right.

The handles do not come body colored. They are painted in USDM form with the chrom trim on them. JDM handles either come full chrome on the Accords, or dark chrome on the Euro-R

At that price, I would just take off the chrome moldings, paint them myself (or get a body shop to paint them), and put them back on. It would still be a "factory fit"...

"Dark chrome?" I'm tempted ... but not $500 tempted!

I'm not sure the chrome adds much, or even looks well, with my ASM color. I really don't like the grill. But I'm really hesitant about doing exterior mods. I wait until I'm absolutely sure. Now, debadging, that only took a few days of thinking, and looking at others' pics.

Go to and PM CGPTSX06, he used blackout tape on his chrome trim and it looks phenomenal. It's similar to applying vinyl.
