Choices: Milano Red, PWP, or Artic Blue
Hey everybody!!
So, some of you may know that I recently had my 2004 PWP/Parchment TSX totalled. ( https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...?postid=317868 )
Well, I am currently awaiting the insurance settlement, and in the mean time I need to decide on what color I am going to replace the TSX in.
I am fairly partial to the Parchment interior, so my initial colors to choose from with that are Milano Red, PWP, or Black..... So far I am rocking between the Milano Red and PWP. (But err, I had the PWP... but only for a month!)
I also like the Artic Blue, but that only comes in Ebony....
Currently, I think i am leaning towards the Milano Red....
I've also been told that the pearl coats are the hardest to match (not that I am planning on getting in another wreck that causes 18,000 worth of damage, but you know what I am getting at)
So yeah... any thoughts people?

The reason why I say red is a high maintenance color, is that it will fade away if proper care isn't given to it, plus it will show swirl marks, and the color will come out well only if it is spottless.
Plus it's a cop-magnet.
But it's an awesome color anyway, and it's a beauty to watch drive by on a sunny weekend when it's spotless and shiny.

Milano Red tends to fade over time.
I had a milano red prelude and boy did it fade on the bumpers and wing. My brother also had a red 94 civic (not sure if it was milano red or not) but that faded on the bumpers too.
Honda red doesn't seem to stand up well to the elements.
Had one guy tell me one time that his old 85 REd prelude did the same type of fading.

Go with ABP or PWP, so you can get a matching t-shirt!

It seems to me the question of "What color car/interior?" is akin to asking "What flavor Ben and Jerry's ice cream should I buy?" It is such a subjective decision and, no matter what color we chose, so many of us wonder if maybe we should have gotten "that other" color instead. We ordered an '05 ABP TSX. It doesn't seem to be a very popular color but we love it.
BTW, regarding Ben and Jerry's; Cherry Garcia. Yum! ;o)

On the topic of the Milano Red fading, has this started to happen to anyone yet? I know the car is only a year old, but I was very much leaning towards the red until I read those comments. Now I'm re-considering getting the blue instead. You have planted the seeds of doubt!

you generally will not see the fading until the 5 yr + mark. I had taken care of my red 97 prelude, waxing it about twice a year and it still faded....looked like sheeeeit. :gheyfight:
you are going to find that those who "baby" their paint will have little or no fading on red cars. While those of us who try to take care of it the best they can will have moderate to severe fading.
Edit: these are just my observations, not fact :killer:

ABP looks so nice in the sun...
Speaking of colours fading, is it only the red paint that has had problems historically? Anybody know of blue fading or distorting under the elements?

I vote Milano Red. It is probably the rarest color available in a TSX so you won't see yourself coming and going all over. Furthermore, I agree with Ackman that red is easy to take care of. Before the TSX, I owned 2 other red cars, a Nissan 240SX and 300ZX. In my experience, dust and dirt does not show up on red as much as it does on white or black or the darker colors like midnight blue. Furthermore, a nicely waxed red car has a high level of shine and sparkle - almost as much as a black car, but w/o the maintenance hassles. On the otherhand, the 2 white cars I've owned in the past never looked super shiney no matter how much they were detailed.

BUT!.... I just got word from the insurance company today, and they settled on the claim, so.... I negotiated an offer today on a 2005 PWP/Parchment 5AT Navi TSX... yeah.. I know... same color as before!!!... but, well, I like that color, and I figured what the heck... although I do think the red is sharp too....
Everybody wish me luck... Just hope everything falls together right !
