Certified Pre-Owned

I mentioned in another post that I had purchased a 2007 CPO TSX last weekend. I think I got an OK price on it at $19K for 29K miles.

However, now I am noticing that they did not include the remote with the car, nor did they include new floor mats even though these items were marked off on the CPO checklist. This is making me wonder how many other items were checked off but not performed... Has anyone else had problems with this? I am going back to the dealership to pick up the missing items, but is there anything else that I can do about this or feel comfort that my car has actually gone through the certification process?

you should have received 2 black keys with 2 remotes, and a grey valet key. you didn't even get floor mats? return to the dealer ASAP.

honestly, i think CPO is just a way for dealers to make an extra $1-2k off of people. the best part about CPO is that they generally extend the powertrain warranty to ~100,000 miles, but other than that, you're taking the same risk that you are with almost any other car that "appears" to be in good shape.

i think you can buy aftermarket warranties that will cover your powertrain to 100,000 miles for around $700-1400ish, depending on where you buy it.

Honestly, the most attractive thing about CPO is the extended warranty that is included. Realistically, you bought a used car that might have been checked out a little better than a non-CPO, but you can't know for sure so you still have to do your homework (Auto Check, Carfax, mechanic once-over, etc.).

I bought my car CPO 5 years ago and it hasn't had any issues outside of some common ones for the 04 model year as reported on this board. Would I buy CPO again? Sure, it gives some peace of mind and you get an extended warranty, but it is not a guarantee of quality, IMO.

Call ahead so you don't waste a trip down there. If I had that happen, I would want to be in and out really quick. Maybe they'll toss in a freebie of some sort for the inconvenience, it wouldn't hurt to make it known that you're dissatisfied.

My valet key was missing when I bought my '06 CPO. I mentioned it but was told they could not locate it. After owning the car a few days I had a list of minor things which were either missing or required attention. After receiving an email the general manager sent touting their customer service and asking for an excellent review, I let her know of my disappointments. The internet sales manager responded immediately by phone requesting that I bring in the car; I provided them with my list and was given a loaner while they took care of each of the items.

I'd recommend this approach if your dealer is concerned with his reputation and cares about your your future business.

Good luck and keep us posted on the outcome.

CPO is a good thing.

I bought a 2005 CPO

My transmission went out at 96,000 miles and they replaced it free of charge and also replace three motor mounts that were also found to be bad.
