CD player not recognizing tracks...advise?...............

my 04 tsx in dash 6 disc player is acting up... when i put cd in, it doenst recognize it.. i have to keep playing with the controls. forward and back then after a while it may recognize tracks and cd then starts playing.. used to happen in 2 out of 6 slots. now its every slot. Is this an example of the head needs cleaning or some mechanizm in there going back and need a new head unit....?

any advise would be greatly appreciated.... thanks

PS: should I need a head unit, im looking at pioneer or panasonic, the ones that play Mp3 and wma... do u know if these will allow me to continue using the volume and track adjustment on my steering wheel? thanks again!

sounds like a cleaning would be in order. i'm not sure how to clean slot loading players, it's something I need to do myself with some dj equipment. i don't know if the cd cleaners that come with a CD with small brushes on the bottom of the cd are safe for slot loading players.

i have a stock oem mp3 attachment player for sale if you're interested. And yes, you DO get to keep your steering wheel controls and all that and you can switch using the steering wheel mode button.

I've had a similar problem with the CD player in my '06 since the day I got it. When I change/load CDs I often have to move forward one track and then back for it to recognize and start playing. I just assumed this was because I was using copied (burned) CDs. Is this something actually wrong with the player? Should I be getting it cleaned or checked out while everything is still under warranty?

there is something wrong with it... car audio is designed to take cd-r... so what ur experiencing is not normal.. just like mine..its getting worse acctually, used to move ahead and backward 1 track and its ok. now its hit and miss..depend on its mood...

i see circuit city has some panasonic and pionner head unit with MP3 WMA capability.. im wondering how those would fit my car......

i had the same problem when i owned a 05 civic ex-se-had it replaced right before the warrany expired-I took it to the dealer and told them the c.d player skipped-they replaced it-no problem.
