Gotta join the YT51R junk group.

Just had my 14 month old YT51R just flat die. Some discoloration on top, turning reddish under the yellow...but it just flat died!

WalMart it is, CR likes the Everstarts, but they don't make a MAXX 51 series, too small. We'll see...but I'm really pissed!

Damn 14 months! I thought Optima has a 3 year warranty on these now? Have you tried contacting them?

I've been watching this Optima saga for some time, and decided early on that if nothing else, they're way more money than I wanted to spend on a battery. So..... when the time came to replace the battery in the 05, I went with an AC Delco 60 month model. It was $70 including tax with core. The OE battery was 3 1/2 years old with about 75K miles on it. It was replaced under warranty at about 2 yrs. and 50K miles (that was the spring of 07) because it tested low (I'd never had a problem with it). I'm not a member of the "bash the OE battery" club. I did discover a dead cell in the battery, which is why I replaced it, but it never gave me any trouble. This is living in the Northeast the whole time, and including the last two winters being kept outside. So.... I have no complaints about the performance of the Acura supplied batteries. I did some research and found that the AC Delco battery was rated pretty highly so I went for it. As the cold weather is not too far away, I guess soon enough we'll see how the new battery performs.

I think Optima only has 1 year warranty. When I bought mine a couple years ago, it lasted a little over a year before it died.

Everything was working fine, went to the store came out and the motor wouldn't start anymore. Had my girl come by with some jumper cables, jump started the car waited a few minutes turned on the headlight and it just died again. So I left the headlights on for the second jump and it stayed on.

Replaced it with a Stinger battery, bought at the beginning of last year and it's still running strong. This time I made sure to get an extended warranty.

1 year for my YT51R...won't talk to them, too disgusted.

Wanted a Costco battery, but they don't make a 51...so...
