carwashin' a xenonspecialist Spoiler...
Just got my trunk lip spoiler from XenonSpecialist today. woohoo!
So I was curious ...anyone actually take one of these XenonSpecialist lip spoiers through a car wash? I seem to remember someone posting something about actually pressure washing it and it didn't come off. That's pretty encouraging.
However, I guess I wouldn't be all that surprised if the thing isn't THAT sticky. M'name's Mike, but you can call me Pessimistic. :-)

Ok pessimistic!
First off you never want to take your car through a car wash. Its the worst thing you can do to the paint of the car. Hand washing is a lot better. Yes it does take time but you'll feel alot better when you don't see a scratch from something you paid to not have. If you also have navi worry about the gps antenna on your roof.
In terms of the spoiler. I think it is sturdy enough to last several machine car wash runs. I put extra double-sided tape for mine and the thing is holding excellent. if you didn't do the same, no worries! The spoiler closes off with the trunk pretty nice and tidy so that no water runs under the spoiler. That adhesive is pretty strong. Water won't eliminate the adhesive but say you ever want to remove it, WD-40 will remove the adhesive bond in an instant.

If you really don't have time to wash your car yourself, you shouldnt have to worry about the Spoiler coming off. It's not gonna go anywhere. The 3M Automotive tape used is used for a number of things, including holding lips, sideskirts and body moldings. You should not have a problem unless a punkass kid decides to rip the spoiler off your car.

Yep, I'll try and handwash it as much as possible. But the silly thing is that there's nowhere to conveniently do it in my condo complex. I have to go to a handwash place which isn't that convenient. That's all.
I just wanted to see what people thought about the durability of the 3M tape.
And good to know about the WD-40 removal ...I guess I like being able to back out of putting it on. Or if I really botch installing it. :-)

the 3M tape like EurTSX said is strong and Acura uses it to stick on the Aspec lips and is made to handle anything minus a kid and a screwdriver. Also heat up the tape and the lip when you install it to make it easier and you can actually pull up small amounts as you go if you botch an area up. Plus if it's hot don't worry about it loosing it's adhesion as you install it and pull up little areas to get alignment right. Also you need to make the spolier match the bend of the trunk and the warmer it is the better it bends.

Let me help you!
If the sticky tape can keep lips from flying off in 100-mph winds, then I think it'd last through a pressure wash. Lip kits are like aerodynamic body kits...they direct the airflow around your car, even when you're driving over 100 mph on a long road trip ;-)
Taking your car through a car wash is a bad idea. The scrubbers can collect dirt and scratch your car. They also have to recycle water, so some dirt particles can get shot back to your car at high speed. Once you get used to cleaning your car at the self-car wash, you'll get quicker at it (as well as learn the curves of your car). At my car wash place, girls tend to go there alone with nice cars...so I have some eye candy while I wash my car lol ;-P

Ive washed my car both at a touchless car wash and with my pressure washer at home countless times over the almost 2 years ive had my car (2 years in august ). The lip is not going anywhere that 3M tape is hella strong.
