Cargo Net - help please

Hi Everyone,

I just bought a cargo net for my TSX on Ebay. I had thought it would be a very simple bolt on item. It's not. It comes with 4 screws that and 4 pegs. Where do the screws go? into the trunk lining? If so, where on the trunk lining? The item also came with very bad instructions.

Does anyone know how to install it? (does it go towards the back, middle or front of the trunk?

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

I dunno - these instructions look pretty detailed to me... the pictures seem to show exactly where it goes.

A past thread on this, started 9/03....

My comment on the thread:

"I just finished. $42 wouldn't be such a bad deal!

I also used a Dremel, and that's after I removed the trunk side panels from the car, that only requires removing one more fastener on each side! So it kinda surprises me that Honda's Samurai Master Technician's instructions don't suggest this. I started with a hole saw but figured I was going to make a mess and wussed out and went for the Dremel.

So I managed not to drill any additional holes into the sheetmetal! (THANKS, IDX for the heads-up about this!)

Also, I only broke one black fastener, and drilled out the recessed one. I made some fastener-removal-tools out of plastic pipe strapping that I had around. (Home Depot) Kinda like a 2-prong barbecue fork, 2 pointed ends and a 3/4" long slot running down the middle between them. 3 of 'em were thick enough to work the fasteners loose enough so that I could get a pair of needle-nose pliers underneath.

But I still broke 3 of the 4 white fasteners holding on the rear trunk panel. (Another visit to the Acura dealer next week!) Hmmmmm ... I'm starting to think that Honda really doesn't want people to take it's products apart."

I have a way to hook the cargo net up to the back of the trunk (like in most cars) but I need photos to explain it. I don't have a digital camera. Is there anyone who lives in central or northern NJ who can take pictures of it?

I bought one of ebay too, we looked at it then i took it to the dealer, they told me it did not have all of the parts in it. So they installed a brand new one for 40 bux.

I brought the NISSAN 350Z Coupe cargo net from a local Nissan dealer and it fits perfectly into the trunk of my TSX. Total installation time was about 3 minutes from start to finish. If you search these pages, i'm sure you will find the thread.

Cargo Net

I too ordered the cargo net, but refused to drill holes in a new car. What I did was went to Home Depot. You know those shower curtain rods that you untwist until they expand far enough to fit your shower stall? Well, I bought one of those for $9, & it works perfectly! I can put it anywhere in the trunk. If you haul lots of groceries, paint cans, etc., you could buy several & put them at intervals. This has been a great solution, & they go in/out in about 15 seconds if you need to change them around.

I got an oem one from my local dealer.....all I can say it it was rediculously difficult to install. I consider myself a very advanced installation dude, and the net threw me for a loop....
