This can't be true... can it?

From

"Check out the Acura TSX model and you'll notice how the doors open and close – even the feeling of it is spot on. No wonder: the sound is artificially generated and even the vibrations in the door are generated by electric impulses."
I know that Acura did brag about how they even engineered the doors of the TSX to have that Euro-spec "thunk" sound when they close, but I thought that was mechanical engineering, not electrical engineering!

I get the sense that the author of this piece is taking Acura's PR a bit too far, but maybe not? Can someone confirm one way or another if our doors have an artifically generated sound? Electrical impulses generate vibrations? Wha??

I don't want to get electricuted when I close my door!!!

Edit: more likely to be acoustically engineered...

The RL has a noise cancelling system (not sure if the TL does or not) but that is to dampen the noise in the cabin, not to make the doors closing sound better. I wonder where mediaweek got their info from.

btw, one thing to note, They did pay special attention to the door seals to create that solid sound, HOWEVER, you would almost always get a hollow sound if you use a lil too much force (i.e. ppl that dunno your car) due to the outer door skin's resonance...... just knock on the door from the outside and you'll hear it immeidately.... but dynatmat or any other dampening stuff will solve the problem

so far I only did one door with fatmat, and the difference is like night and day... altho I broke the door handle cover on the passenger side...
