Canada Navi DVD update

When I check the Canada Navigation update section, the Navi order form indicates that both TL and TSX 2005 is that " The current version is 3.40, it does NOT contain Full Coverage Mapping of Canada. It may be purchased as a replacement for a Lost or Damaged DVD or as an update for 2004 MY vehicles" However, with RL, it says " The current version is 4.20, it contains Full Coverage Mapping of Canada. It may be purchased as a replacement for a Lost or Damaged DVD." The cost for all of them are the same no matter on what version it's: Acura IPF DVD DISC VERSION 3.40/4.20 $280.

With this info, I have 3 questions:

1) With this price, I'm hoping that I'm not ordering just the CD... However, does it mean that if I wanna upgrade my map, I need to purchase a new DVD player instead of a new DVD disc????

2) Even if I get it, according to TSX and TL, we are still not getting a full coverage. So here, I think coverage = area covers and not = new roads and streets?

3) How often will a update Disc comes out for US as compare to Canada? How often a new update Disc will come out for Canada?

Maybe these questions are stupid, but I'm still living in bread crumbs area which I'm trying to get out of...

1.) That's the price, it's just for the disc (which is a DVD, not a CD)...
2.) I don't think you can use the RL disc in the TSX and TL... the RL links in traffic reports/conditions into it's routing tied in from the XM radio...
3.) They come out once a year in the US, in the fall usually.... I assume the same is true for Canada... All you're doing is buying that MY's disc.... I bought a 2005 TSX less than a month ago... once the 2006s hit I'll be able to buy that disc.....

Not bad. I say buy the dvd and burn it and sell it on ebay for 50 bucks till you make at least your money back. I wonder if it will work.

The price of the DVD includes the new software, the new maps, the media (cheap I know) and of course profit. Acura does not make the maps themselves, there are companies who's sole job is digital mapping....

ya.. that's true... I think I'm more thinking of a system which has a hard drive to keep existing data and just need a new DVD to run update... Not thinking of a disc with complete package... du'h... that make sense now. Too bad that it can't be copied...

I guess I'll wait a couple of years before I upgrade it... unless I really want my house in there...

$280 is just outrageous... This NAVI thing really makes you pay through your teeth.

Update cost for my paper NAVI system: $5.

Is there really a difference between the US and CANADA NAV DVD? I was hoping it had decent coverage. I have the November 2004 version and am driving from Ohio to Hamilton Ontario tomorrow. I am going to 3 Pearl Jam concerts on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in Kitchener, London and Hamilton Ontario respectively. I am hoping my NAV will get me there ok.
