California Sticker Question
#7
What's a smog sticker? The only thing I get that pertains to smog is the dmv renewals that tell me it's time for another smog test.
New cars don't need to be smogged until a certain time...4 years I think?
Otherwise, you just get two stickers...the month and the year

If you're talking about the registration sticker, maybe the dealer messed up and didn't send in the payment for the registration? My dealership sent me a check because they overcharged me for registration.
EDIT: I don't know if other states issue some sort of sticker for smog inspections. But even then, how would a cop know unless they went under the hood

Good thing we only get inspected during a smog check in cali, and the visual inspection is a really fast glance throughout the engine bay. I've had non-CARB approved (California Air Resource Board) mods on my car, and the person inspecting the car doesn't even flinch.

There is no smoke sticker for any of the new car for the first 5 years in CA! unless you bought 5 years old TSX!
Check with the DMV to see if they did send the registration stickers or not. Maybe the DMV forget?

Anyhow, I have no clue what a smog sticker is...never heard of such a thing. A registration sticker is exactly what SoCaliTrojan said - the year sticker. Your car needs to be smog-tested to be registered. For me, even though I get a sticker every year, every OTHER year i have to get a smog test to get my sticker. If you have a new car and the DMV sent you a 2006 sticker, go ask if there was a mistake.

As the car ages, when it gets time to re-register the car, you will be required to take the car to have it smogged. The results of the smog test will be transmitted to the DMV and when you submit your re-registration paperwork, if you passed the smog, the new sticker will be issued. If you fail the smog, you will be told to re-smog the car before the deadline.

If they didnt send you these stickers, they f'ed up. There is NO smog sticker and you dont have to smog a new car until its 4th year of registration.
BTW, your stickers should have been stapled to your reg card, which is attached to the OUTSIDE of the package, like another poster said. Hope you didnt throw them out...

There is no "smog" sticker. There is a registration sticker which you get after you pay your registration every year. Every 2 years you are required to submit proof of your car passing a smog test along with your registration fee. This starts starts with the 3rd year you own your car, you do not need to get it smogged when you buy it new. I don't remember if I got the registration and license plates in the same shipment or not. You should receive your month sticker and your registration sticker in the same envelope as your registration. From then on, every year you renew your registration, you will only get a fresh "year" sticker. The month remains the same. Like everyone said, call the DMV and ask. Then, tell us what happened.

Beginning January 1, 2005, vehicles 6 or less model-years old are exempt from the biennial Smog Check inspection requirement. For vehicles with registration renewals due in the 2006 calendar year, this exemption includes model-years 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
So I guess that means since I bought in 04 I dont have to smog until 10? Cool...

Glad you got it worked out. Did they give you your registration paper or did you already have it?

Your car is 06, you don't need to smog it to register it. Next year when you re-register your car, you don't need to smog it. You'll still receive your 2008 sticker once you pay your registration fee. Got it???

For the last time, the sticker that you had from the DMV is the registration your car. No smoke sticker period.
Next year about 2 month before March 2007 (March is the month you bought the car correct?), you will pay some money for re-registration the car without go to the smoke station, the DMV will send you the same sticker (different color) as this year with 2008 print on it. The year after that, around March 2008 you will pay some money for re-registration the car again WITHOUT go to the smoke station for smoke check, the DMV will send you the same sticker (different color) as the last year with 2009 print on it. Same for March 2009, Same for March 2010, and Same for March 2011! With the new rule, by March 2012, then you need to go to the smoke station and have smoke check. You must PASS smoke check and pay registration money to re-registration your car. Again, DMV will send you the same sticker with different color than previous year with year 2013.
If you don't get it by now after so many of us try to educate you, then I don't really know what to say! and please, do not reply with all capital words since it means you are shouting to us. And the more you shout, the more stupid you show.
