Cabin air filter replacement
Cabin air filter replacement
Hey guys,
First of all, is there a DIY for the cabin air filter on a 2006+ TSX on this forum? I know that I found one for the Accord, but is there one for the TSX? I'm not mechanically inclined whatsoever, and I'm afraid that I might screw something up doing this. I really hate to pay teh dealership like $70 to do this, but unless I can find a super detailed guide, I don't know if I want to attempt this.
Lastly, should I swap out my air filter at 25k? I just got the B12 code, so I'm thinking it's probably dirty. Anyway, if someone has a good DIY, that would be great!

I'm going to try to be brief and simple.
1. Take out everything in glovebox.
2. Push the two black tabs on the side out by pressing on it from outside the glovebox.
3. Use some force to pop off the plastic long piece on the outside of the glovebox on the right side by pressing on the lower part of the piece. This will allow the glovebox to be released.
4. Look at the inside and look for two tabs that you have to push together to pull out. This is the cabin air filter.

How do you put the glove box back together?
Lastly, what is the long plastic piece that you're refering to?
Ok guys, I managed to get everything apart, but when I went to remove the air filter tray, I noticed that there is a long horizontal piece (cylinder shaped) in front of the tray filter all the way across. Anyway, I wasn't able to pull the air filter tray out as a result. How do I get around that piece, and what is that piece?
Also, how do you know whether or not you installed those black plastic clips that you initially pop out first and put in last when reassembling the glove box?
Lastly, if someone could tell me how to remove that piece that is located in front of the air filter tray, that would be great.
Thanks much!
Jeff

Thanks for the links, guys! I'm having the issue where I can't pull the tray out. It keeps getting stuck on that piece of plastic/metal that is in front of it horizontally. Anyway, I'm not sure how to get around that. It's the piece that has the white sticker on it..
Can anyone help me?
Thanks!

You just need to move around the wires and make sure the release tabs are pressed mine cameout pretty easy on the video.
I need to redo the video but im sure it helps most people for the most part.

.That's the Trunk Main Switch. I believe it disables opening of the trunk with the remote. Or ... wait. No. I believe you flip that switch, lock the glove box, lock the driver's remote trunk release (by the driver's door), and give someone the valet key. Then the valet cannot open the trunk even with all the doors unlocked. (Normally unlocking all the doors unlocks the trunk as well.) I believe the wireless remote entry fob will still open the trunk. Yes, that's it. It took me ten minutes to figure that one out the evening I picked up my TSX. You get the prize for asking most obscure question of the day.
As I remember, a 05+ Honda Odyssey cabin air filter is an exact match...but even better deals can be had from third parties. Buy several to save on shipping and change them every 15000 miles...they look pretty crappy by then!
I just buy them online, usually from a Honda dealer or third party. Acura dealers usually want too much for them ($35 is the best I've seen).

There are a number of compatible filters you can buy on Amazon now, usually with free shipping (if you qualify for the supersaver shipping, blah blah blah). I've used ATP, a Fresh Aire recently ... You can find several part #'s in my DIY. ... It's an air filter, I don't put a lot of thought into the brand unless it's one that clearly lets in dirt. If you change it every other oil change, just get one that's easy on your pocket book, eh?
