buzzing/rattling from inside steering wheel

Anyone else hear this? I only hear when going over very large bumps, but I can reproduce the sound by hitting my steering wheel from the side. Can someone else please try thing? Give your steering wheel a good thump from the side when you get in your car. Do you hear ..a sort of buzz inside it (its not very loud)? I looked long and hard for something on the outside that was buzzing but couldnt find anything. So I'm thinking its inside somewhere.

I wrote about this in recent related threads.

The tech took my steering wheel apart, along with the airbag, etc. and came to the conclusion that this buzz is going to be a "feature of all TSXs" -- it's caused by the horn springs and cable wheel on the airbag. Making a modification to stop the noise could cause airbag malfunction. This is also a problem with the '03 Accords, from what I can tell.

Mine has grown progressively worse (not louder, just more frequent) for the past few months.

I can drown it out fine with a little radio, but it's unfortunate.

Maybe I'll have the dealer make the modification and just disable the airbag -- what's a little life endangerment for the good of cabin solitude?

I gave up trying to fix all the rattles myself. I'll just let the dealer handles it. And when a year is up and it's still not fixed, I'll return the car.

I think I am going to demand they fix it. The reason is I definately didnt have this rattle day 1, which tells me its possible for it not to rattle and still have the air bag work properly. This particular rattle is becoming more and more frequent. Or maybe I am just paying more attention to it.

Are you sure you just cant hear it over your vibrating motor?

Before you start your car next time, give your steering wheel and nice thump from the botton or right side. You may hear a buzz from inside

Maybe if you stopped banging everything in your car it would stop rattling

I'll try that, I'm guessing the car has to be on to cause this buzzing?

No the car doesn't need to be on. It sounds like something loose inside the steering wheel so the car can be off, in which case the cabin is more quiet and you can hear it more easily.

If you ever see someone drivng a TSX , and constantly banging things, and holding on to various peices of the interior to stop them from rattles, thats me.

My wife yells at me to watch the road when I do that. I look up. down, around, in the back and then hold the door lock as am driving.

Damn rattles.
