Exclamation Buying a Car this weekend, and have 3 Deals in the works...

Ok so here are the following 3 deals I've been able to negotiate. All 3 of these are mine for the taking after lots of phone calls. If you were me, which would you choose? Try to hold off bias if you are a TSX owner and same as with TL.... if that's possible, haha

$12,000 --- 2004 Acura TSX - 69k miles, std
quip. (Carbon Gray, Black)

$13,500 --- 2005 Acura TSX -- 48k miles, std equip. (Black/Black)

$13,500 --- 2005 Acura TL -- 71k miles, Navigation System, all other options. (Silver/Black)

I'd pick the one with the 6MT.

Yea the 04 TSX is the worst deal. He just said he'd go $11,500 now but the other two are still farther below blue book value.

Also note that all 3 are automatic. My wife will be the main drive of the car as well so handling is not "the" most important thing.. I'm leaning towards the TL at the moment but I do like the low mileage on the 05.

05 TSX or 05 TL

The mileage on the 05 TSX is more favorable. 04 TSXs have more issues so it would be between the 05 TSX and 05 TL for me.

Do both come out clean on Carfax and Auto Check?

The Acura TL, although a good deal, has some cosmetic damage on both rear bumper and front bumper. The other 2 cars are completely mint.

I also like the Silver the least of the 3..... ahhhhh... what shall I do???

The '05 TSX comes with an accident, side collision. The TL has no accidents reported and most of the maintenance was indicated to be done at dealers.

Too bad the 05 TSX was hit; it will never be the same. As much as I like it (I have an 05 and an 07 and prefer the 05), I'd vote for the TL.

Hmm. If the 05 TSX hadn't been hit, I'd say go with that. I wonder how bad it was. My 04 was in a fender bender and it shows up on Carfax and Auto Check, but in reality there was hardly any damage on the front bumper. It wasn't even replaced, just repainted (there was one spot where paint was smudged off). But you just never know with accidents and the quality of the repairs. So I'd say go with the TL.

Yea, that's what I hear salvaged or not.. they are never the same. I think I'll go with the TL, that seems to be what everyone is saying.

Thanks community! I'll continue to listen to the responses but it looks like it's becoming clear the choice.

Strictly looking at the mileage, I'd say go with the '05 TSX. But, since the '05 TL has navi, even though it has higher mileage, it might seem to me the best choice.

Given what you said, the 05 TL would be my choice, even with the miles.

However - how long to you intend to own it? I think this is an imporant factor. If you're only looking to own it 2-3 years, I'd almost go with the 04. Has less miles and costs less. You can pay it off quicker and most importantly, you'll likely keep the mileage down in a range that makes resale or trade eaiser. Also, it will probably depreciate less (% wise) given that it's already a year older. The TL is close to 100K miles, where any car is going to take a noticeable hit in it's value. So it's likely you'll hit that mark in the TL in 2-3 years.

If you're going to own it a long time, again I think the TL is your car. It has more appointments than a TSX and will make for a more enjoyable 5+ years of owning it.

Lastly, avoid the 05 TSX. You just don't know where they got the work done. And the TL is the same price.

I'd like to say I'd own it longer than 2-3 years but I seem to always want a new car after a few years.. That being said I'll take some more time to think about the good points you brought up concerning resale. I may still be leaning towards TL but it's true if I plan to sell, I would get more back with the TSX.

Thanks again!

If I were you, I'd honestly look for a 2006+ TSX. It ensures that all the bugs in the 04-05MY are fixed.
And you get: power passenger seat, heated mirrors, BT, slight bump in HP, updated NAV.

TL is my vote, you get the Bluetooth as well as the Navigation.

FYI...the 'O5 TSX does have power passenger seats, heated mirrors, as well as lighted instrumentation in the steering wheel.

I would have chosen the TSX 05 because of the beep feature when you lock the doors, but since it was in an accident I'll have to choose the TL. You'd get the beep in that too

I'll give you another vote for the TL. Mostly for the reasons mentioned in the posts above me.

Was the right front bumper scrapped or hit on the TL? or is that just the glare?

Looks like it was scrapped...

TL better buy with all the options, also more umph will make it easier for the wifey to get on the high way and cut people off etc. Bumper flaws are a easy fix.. replace it? or just buff it out. Hasn't been hit ( on record at least ) so thats a bonus. Besides you're getting a bigger vehicle with more room. The 1st GEN tsx's are rather tiny, and not a lot of leg room. Maybe you should go look at a 09 tsx :o) A lot of room great car :-P no accidents :-D I'll sell you mine with 25k miles on it for $23,000.. :-P Tech package 6mt :o) black on black

I'd take the TL if I was in your shoes. Better equipped, more horse power, Navi, it's good
