Buying 2004 Acura TSX with 120K miles for $12K is a good bet?
I am in shopping for Acura TSX and I encountered a 2004 vehicle in the auction site whose mileage is about 120000. The quote I got it for $12000.
Buying this car is a good bet?
If I buy what kind of problems I can encounter at this mileage?
Any other suggestion?
Please help me to make my decision
BTW, I am new to this forum.
Thanks in advance.

doesn't sound bad. i just paid 15k for an 04 with nav and 86k. the only other one i saw under 20k in my area was a year newer with like 60k on it and no nav...for 18k...so that price seems good. mine runs like a champ!

Thanks for the response

For an auction vehicle with that mileage, honestly, it doesn't sound like a good deal to me. I'd be afraid of where it's been. With '04's, you're also looking at a good probability of the A/C and HVAC lights going out (compressor for A/C is problematic and printed circuit board has issues). I'd skip it, especially for $12k.

For an auction vehicle I'd be more comfortable in the $8k to $10k range. I'd be less apprehensive about a manual than automatic (not that there's been a pattern of problems with the auto, they're just more mechanically complicated). Try to find out the service history and what TSBs have been performed.

im sure @ 120 it was either all highway miles (or delivery) so I think the car hould be in good working order aside from other normal maintenace and maybe a few minor nuances. Personally I'd pass as unless it was the exact combo I was looking for. what are the car's specs? have you looked outside of your current area? I travelled more than 259 miles to get evrything I desired except nav.
if you can test drive it and carfax it, then go for it. We'll all Win here because you can be our high mileage guru who informs us of what problems to look out for!

The interior seems good and no dents I noticed outside
One problem I noticed in my test drive is: the sunroof is not functioning.

I just got a 04 tsx 6 speed manual with about 86k for 14k. The car runs like a champ.. No problems at all with anything on the car. As soon as I got it though I took it to get a tune up and the mechanic told me that the car was in tip top shape inside and out.

There's a dealer up her in the Seattle area that has the balls to be asking $17,995 for a 2004 TSX w/111,000 Miles on it. Granted it has Nav but that's seems a bit much. Like maybe $3,500 too much. Maybe it comes w/a courtesy reach around though .

I personally would just like to find one for around $16K w/less than 75K Miles on it...Nav would be a bonus.
Good luck & keep us posted.

'04 with 50K on it, got it with 8 miles. Only major issue was the HVAC lights went out and I had the entire unit replaced, was finished in a day.
Engine wise, if it was properly maintained, it will go forever. I push mine to the limit from time to time and it's never showed any signs of mercy. Great car!
As for the price, talk him down... $10,500 is a bit much...

04 with a 120K??
Why go for one with over 100K??
I travel by air a lot so I have a 04 with only 36K on it. I know it is not the norm but there are several out there. My suggestion would be to keep hunting and look for a turned in lease at around 40-60K. If you live in a bigger city you can normally knock them down to bewteen 14-16K dependent on the condition.
Then get an extended warranty to cover any unforeseen problems.
Heck I bought mine brand new through internet sales at and Acura dealer for 24,900 with auto, foglights, wheel locks, trunk tray, cargo net, etc. (love to push a deal)
It was not navi but I already had a Garmin. I would not bother with the navi if you have a good portable GPS. I played with Acuras and was not impressed.
