bullet proof tsx?

I had the 3.2CL 6 speed and am thinking of getting a TSX if there is one with the same reliability. its a goof around car so i dont want to spend more than 16k and I wont be the only driver so im looking for an automatic.

Any thoughts?

I think it's a great car for your price bracket, and as long as you keep up with scheduled maintenance there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

are any years more or less problematic? I had the 2000 TL and hated the tranny problems so I bought the CLS6. Im looking the same caliber of quality.

Avoid 2004. It's a first year model, so it has some bugs in it.

If you can afford a 2006, you should get it. It comes with a little more horsepower, bluetooth, etc (it was the mid-generation refresh year).

If you don't want to aftermarket mod it, 2006, 2007, 2008 would all be good years to shop for. Only thing added in 2007 IIRC was TPMS, 2006 added Bluetooth HandsFreeLink and the AUX input for the cheap stereo standard equipment. Also, the 2006 and later got a slight performance tweak, upping the engine from 200 to 205 bhp. The 5AT tranny is unjustly reviled around here, IMHO, I find the manumatic to be smooth and very responsive. Serves me well on the track, and very well on the interstate highway.

If you want to put the Hondata ECU reflash in it (highly recommended if you plan to spend quality time in the upper power band, and by that I mean 4000 rpm and up), 2006 is your most recent option. Frankly, a 2006 like mine is a nice competitor to other < $35K sports sedans (refer to the Car And Driver 2004 sport sedan shootout, the TSX took top podium step), and more reliable.

I think the black book on my 2006 is $14k or so, there must be bargains to be had out there.

If I had to do it over, I might get a model with Navigation package, I like the hard buttons for climate control on the track (easy to turn off A/C, etc), but the HondAcura navi system was called out in reviews for its best-in-class usability.

Or ... you could get a 2004-2005 RSX, the successor to the legendary Integra.

I've owned the 2004 TSX and 2006 TSX and the 2006 is much improved. Prepare to spend some money to upgrade the rotors/brakes.

I think the stock rotors and pads are okay. Best, cheap upgrade would be to replace the rubber lines with SS braided lines ... better reliability, more consistent braking response. When some of the pads are ready for replacement, you can always just put on aftermarket ones.

I currently have a 2007 TSX tech with 44k miles. I haven't had any issues with the car whatsoever so far. I really enjoy this car, and I actually think that I will end up keeping this car for a couple more years.

Normally, I would have traded it in for something else, however, this car has been so reliable, it almost seems foolish for me to get rid of it at this point.

If you're looking for a good, reliable, and fun to drive car, you can't go wrong with a 1st gen (2006-2008) TSX in my opinion!

I have an 2005 TSX with no problems. The only complaint for that car is no AUX port for the ipod. Other than that its all good for me!

I got my 06 Automatic TSX w/ navi a year and a half ago for 18k out the door with 40000 miles. You should be able to find one now a days for your price range!! I LOVE my TSX. And I think I'll keep it for a very long time.
