Like many have said in this column. The TSX is a great value. I am coming from a 2000 Jetta VR6. It was a good car. Plenty of power and luxury. The downside was that the car was unrelaible and dealer service was downright terrible. If money were no object, I would be in a 330 or G35 Coupe, but I live in reality where money does not grow on trees.

I owned my Jetta from mile 5 to mile 85,000. The car had to have the transmission replaced, drive axles, 2 maf sensors and it squeaked like hell in the dash. And as far as the dealer goes, I was not offered a loaner vehicle while my car was in for these services. You would think that this would have been the time to get me to test drive a Passatt (upgrade), but it was never offered to me. Lastly, the cost of ownership was far too high. Parts and labor could gouge a king.

Back to the subject, the TSX does it for me. It has the Navigation, handling, gas mileage, luxury fit and finish and dealer support.

Were a few things cut to get the price down? Sure. The trunk is not as finely finished as my Jetta and the seats don't heat up as hot. But guess what? i don't spend much time in the trunk and I live in the hot and humid south where I keep my car in a temperate garage, hence no real need for heated seats.

Acura/Honda spent it money where it counted. In the drivetrain. Unlike the VW, this is a car that I can actually keep once it is paid off.

This gets me going off in another tangent: Given his high posts/day, and his round-the-clock presence, is it possible that there's more than one entity posting under the name "Larchmont"? (Some of you may remember the same conjecture being applied to Shakespeare some years ago.)
That's right. There are 6,000 people in the town of Larchmont, and to save a little green, we all got together on one PC -- we post together. We're kind of like a conglomerate.

And then we all cool off in the hot tub.

Thanks, Ski! We look forward to the invasion, and we'd even like some of the Bimmers to join here.

But, just one thing: They can bash all they want!!!!! (As long as they keep it civil, yeah.) We can take it -- and we can dish it out back!!!

Larchmont is in Westchester, about 10 miles north of Manhattan, sort of between Scarsdale, New Rochelle, and Mamaroneck.

P.S. Were any of your dudes put out by the "scotch tape" story?

wow.....well the base prices were close. i can't imagine how much the 325 would be with the similar options. no thanks!

less than 12 hours till i pick up my tsx!! can't wait! my brother picked up his g35 6SPD 2 days ago (SWEET RIDE) and we're going to go to my cousins place who has a 2003 325 Ci bimmer. Can't wait to trash talk with my cousin about having 200hp, 6spd, real leather seats, etc....AND saving way more money then he did.

now only if there's a way i can make this day go by faster. I WANT MY CAR!

I don't think the comparrison is worth making.

TSX is not a BMW/Audi and wasn't designed to be. I drove the TSX (and plan on buying one, because I think it's a great car ) and I've driven quite a few bimmers (3s and 5s) and loved them too.

Cost not object, I'd choose a BMW. They make the benchmark sports sedan, hands down. Someday I'll spring for a BMW, for sure.

But cost is an object and Acura is offers a fantastic and very comparable car for a lot less $$$. RWD: no; world-beating brakes: no; the same level of prestige: no. But it's not a BMW and isn't priced like one. And it will prove to be more reliable, offers more practicality (trunk, leg room etc...) and has some element that are better: gearbox feel, clutch, interior (in my opinion) etc...

For the $$$ TSX will get my vote every time. BMW is still the ultimate driving machine.

Can't wait to get out of my crap Jetta VR6!!!!!! The biggest antidote for wanting a German car is the little light on the dash called "check engine"

Except when it doesn't drive.

Which is far too often for some people's taste.

Sorry about your experience, but you should have done some research before buying that VW in fuck-me heels and a short skirt. You can't bunch "german cars" all into one big group. You love Japanese cars but I bet you wouldn't go out right now and buy a Suzuki. Audi is about as reliable as Mitsubishi right now (and then). Sorry about you experience again, but don't lump them all together.

BTW....in what city was your 1.8 made?
