blew my tranny help!!!!
my tranny in my 05 tsx with 68k miles just shit the bed. when its in drive it slips and my rpm just revs up. it slips and catches again and slips..etc. my question is will 06,07,08 tranny bolt up to my 05 without any issues or changes?

not sure the tranny..i think its because of all this snow in ny and my car is drop pretty low and when i get stuck in the snow shifting it from drive to reverse over and over again it started to get fucked up because it would start grinding when i did it....i always thought that the trannys were different. are the part numbers the same from 05 to 06 and 07?

Dude, if u think reliable cars are unbreakable, u r wrong. My friend killed tranny of his Maxima by shifting like a moron. Dont play with autos like that TSX has one of the best and a very reliable auto tranny, but its not unbeatable. Better get an LSD

I'm not saying that the TSX's is bad, but I've never seen it praised as "one of the best".
Frankly, when I test drove the auto, I thought it was pretty slow to shift in SS mode. That alone was enough to make me never want to drive an auto TSX.

^ it still beats Ford's and Hyundai's auto trannies. Trust me, Honda is relatively good. I drove auto BMW 325xi yesterday and it shifted at the same speed. In any case, if u feel like jerking off, dont use auto gear shifter for that.

i never thought it was unbreakable i know shifting it like that can ruin the tranny..i had my tsx since 05 and put almost 70k on it and its a very reliable car nothing wrong with it until now..this year upstate ny has gotten so much more snow then previous years so thats not helping at all. when you get stuck in the snow and it takes forever to get out it gets aggravating

I go to school in buffalo, and you just gotta have patience.
Snow or no snow those gear shifters aren't ment to be slammed down on any car...
friend's mom's audi now jumps when she pulls it to drive.
she had a nasty habit of slaming it straight down.

Well, you are thinking of the V6 Autos. The only auto I know of on a 4 cylinder honda that had an issue was the Prelude's. The reason was high rev'ing motors. Honda autos on 4 cylinders tend to be damn reliable. The issue we had was misalignment from the factory on 04's. They shouldn't shyte themselves unless abused.

^^Yep. TLs and CLs of the early 90s I believe had terrible trannies (correct me if I'm wrong). It more of a question of when it will fail, not if.
Never heard of any problems with 4cyl autos being bad, unless there was obvious abuse.

The TL/CL problem persisted up until 2003 I believe. The heart of the problem appears to have been insufficient lubrication to some key parts. Heat would build up and things would break. The third gear clutch band was the most common component to fail from what I've read. It would seem it is no longer a problem as I've not seen many (any?) posts about the 2004+ TLs eating up transmissions. It is disappointing that it took as long as it did to find a real solution (admittedly it does take a while to design and start producing a whole new transmission). I'm sure there are plenty of former TL and CL owners left with a bad enough taste in their mouths that they'll never come back to Acura.

Oh I get it. I owned 03 Pontiac Vibe and it had tranny problems. That thing has 1.8L Corolla engine/tranny. The fluid got dark after about 1000 miles and I mean very dark. I talked to the mechanic and he said that 1 of the clutches wasnt working properly. According to him, it would cost just a bit more to replace whole tranny than open that thing up and fix it with replacement parts. car had 38k miles when we discovered it.
So there is an AT failure with only 4 cylinders. However, that is essentially a Toyota Honda hasnt let me down with ANYTHING, even my 8 year old Civic was running fine

I am having the exact same issue with my 06 with 18,000. I need to call the dealer today.

The Bad tranny issue wasn't just for the TL and CL, it included all of the V6 models with the 3.0 and 3.5 engines in them. I had an 01 Accord V6 that the tranny went out on with less than 30,000 miles and my wife had an 02 MDX that had 2 new trannys put in it. Needless to say it will be a long time before I get another v6 auto tranny from them. They are probably fixed by now but when they were fixing them back then they didn't have a solution for the problem yet and were just putting the same crappy ones in.
