Black or Gray Interior?

I cannot decide between the black or Gray interior..... Does Black interior get much hotter than Gray during the summer? I live in Atlanta. Could some of you post pics of Black or Gray interior?

Thanks!

I recommend ebony. The quartz (gray) limits you to only 4 colors, most of them silvers and grays. I've had a black leather for 6 years, is hot for a minute or two, but with the 06 TSX you can lower the windows before you get in anyway

I have the ebony. I have not had any real problems with the heat in Dallas for the past 2 years. However, I do garage park at work and home.

I detail my interior once a week, so mine looks pretty much brand new. If you take care of the seats, they will look decent as well but do show some wear marks.

Just browse/search around on the board, plenty of interior shots are already posted, especially on the 2006 models.

i never liked the quartz interior. it looks too dull inside. i got to drive a loaner with the quartz and i'm not used to the lighter tones. the parchment makes the tsx feel warmer and more luxurious

but ebony is where it's at

the two tone of my cg/quartz/navi gets many raves....

i love the combo, and when i was at the dealer for delivery a guy buying actually switched to quartz when he saw mine

it's all subjective tho...it's like asking "blonde or brunette?" or "ginger or mary-ann?"

in the end you can't go wrong...

They gave me a better deal on the floor model which had a quartz interior but I had to turn it down.
Did not like the quartz one bit.

I'll take all of the above

Well, put money down on Carbon Gray / Ebony tonight. Thanks for all your posts. This forum has become one of my favorites, and have moved up to second tab on my firefox.

Sweet, congratulations.

I chose CG / Quartz because I'm a practical kind of guy. In the showroom I think NBP/Ebony looks unbelievable. But the fact that I don't have a butler to wash my car (heck I don't even have a garage) and detail the interior everyday steered me away. And, I live in the middle of South Carolina, which is just south of hell, so I wasn't crazy about melting in the interior.
But, no worries man. Crank the A/C and you will Love your new car!

good choice.

originally i wanted the quartz for my cg. the dealer only had ebony so i got that, and i don't regret it one bit. there's just something sexy about stepping into the ebony interior at night...

EDIT: and congratulations with the purchase!

In my estimation, black leather is far more elegant than the light grey. If we could get the same camel leather as on the TL, then that would be right up there at the top, too.

I love my black interior. Both of our cars are black by my choice. I think that black looks classier, sportier, and wears much better than beige or grey. Are our black interiors warmer than others in our VA summers? Perhaps, but what is the difference btwn 120 degrees and 125 degrees?
Go black and you'll never go back!

I'd love to see Royal Blue Pearl on Camel. That would be stunning!! Carbon Grey (and Black) would look good with Camel too.

I went with the Quartz because I thought the Eboney was to dark and kind of boring. I like the two-tone look of the black on grey.

Quartz is a nice interior, Ebody is a GREAT interior.

When I test drove the TSX, it was a SSM/Quartz and very bland. When I sat in one in the showroom (SSM/Ebody), it was very elegant and inviting so I chose that.

I think the quartz takes away from the metal trim going across the dash. It kind of blends in where as with the ebony interior, it matches the non optional black dash and the metal trim stands out. My .

Quartz. Classy, cool, and I've only been scorched a couple of times, in 120-degree Vegas heat.

Go black and you'll never go back!

i think black is certainly sportier, but classier i have to go with the parchment. almost every luxury car has something close to this color. i'm thinking of my gf's mercedes with parchment like interior.

i don't think quartz is too sport or too classy, but it's not horrible.

black shows every bit of dust, which aggravates me, but honestly, how hard is it to whipe your car down a few times a month with some leather conditioner? if you don't do it, your seats will dry out anyways.

if the heat is a huge issue, tint your windows. that will help a bit.

i love contrasting colors, so i like the parchment with darker colors, and the black with lighter colors. i think the parchment looks great in my royal blue pearl.

i dont think i've seen the quartz in person, but i don't think i'd even consider it.

How hot does ebony get?

When I told my cousin that I ordered an ebony interior, he strongly cautioned me against it and thought the car would feel like an oven in the summer. He thought that the leather would get extremely hot. I ordered ebony because when I test drove the car, ebony really felt "right" to me.

I've done some searching on this forum and most people who have ebony don't find it a big problem. Between fast A/C cool down, automatically opening windows before getting into car, and use of a sun shield all seem to help.

How do other ebony owners feel about the heat in the summer? I live in the northeast and we only get 85+ degree weather, maybe four months out of the year. My car is not garaged during the day.

85 degrees...hot...puleeeeze...tell him to come to Dallas. It's supposed to be 81 tomorrow. Get a sunshade and you'll be fine. The difference in temperature for ebony over quartz or parchment for your climate would be negligible.

I've lived with the quartz for two years now, and I'm happy with it. I have to say, though, all the pics I've seen of the parchment, especially with the new plood, have me thinking that it's the color I'd pick if I had it to do all over again.

Black looks really nice, but the carpet will show every speck of dirt. Quartz is a little more forgiving that way. I also like the contrast that the black dash and quartz/parchment combo gives. Ebony interior = too much black, IMO.

I have the black (ebony) on a black '04. I would say the black is more sporty and seductive, the quartz is more luxury-car looking. Neither is necessarily better, that's just my opinion of the difference.

I have had both, the Quartz is really nice, I liked the contrast between the black dash / trim and grey, but the Ebony just looks more upscale and classier.

The Ebony does show more dust, and if you are concerned about the heat, you should just get a sunshade.

I lived in Atl for a long time and it really doesn't matter what color the interior is when it's hot/humid out.

Point taken...heat is relative based upon where you live. If you can deal with ebony in Dallas, I doubt that I'll have a problem with it.

You are correct. I'd love it to be 85 in the summer. That's usually our spring temp. We seem to be having some kind of freak weather system making it this warm. It's normally about 50 now. Still warm I suppose. One thing I forgot to mention is that the dash is going to be black whether you get parchment or ebony. Definitly get a sunshade. Also, if you tint your car, that will help keep it cooler. It helps down here ALOT!
