OH man...looks like im not the only one who was debating this...Just found the "similiar threads" section. we'll...heres the whole dilema that im going through, if black is as easy to ruin as people say it is....

Will it be able to last in Ithaca? (rain...cold...snow...outdoor parking only)

Damn...now im considering silver.....ugh....O.O

Crap part is i have till 10/10 to decide cause thats when i go back up for college after fall break, and when the black/black arrives.

I am picking up a CGP with Quartz interior Friday. I could have had a black/black already on the dealer's lot, but as others said, didn't want the issues with the heating up of the car (although the color combo I got may not be all that much better). My last 2 cars were black, so it was time for a change.

The first car was a non-metallic black and the second was metallic black. I like the metallic better - shines a bit better and I found a bit easier to care for (doesn't show as many swirl marks or fine scratches). I'm not sure what the TSX black is. Either way, if you are fussy about your car's appearance, you will be washing it often. My car stays garaged, so that helps.

Black wtih parchment interior. The best combo but a bitch to maintain. If you're in college, why don't you get a SSM/quartz? Very easy to maintain. That's what I have.... git 2 dents already but doesn't quite show.... compare to a darker color.... my

It's just plain black...no metallic at all. My wife's old 93 Prelude was a metallic black and it was pretty cool (NOT literally) -- if the TSX was to use that black I might have to consider it.

Don't want SSm mainly cause my sister has a civic 4 door in silver...Don't want to be repetative..doesn't give it its own edge you know? I like the black interior but this decision kills!

For the reason that you'll be at Cornell alone, I'd choose silver. With all the tons of crappy weather you guys have, your car will be salted up most of the time, turning your black car into a 2-tone car, half dirty black, half white. Impossible to keep clean in upstate NY. If you lived in a sunnier, dryer area, I'd say go black. My previous car was silver and I went to college in Boston. The silver hides all the salt and dirt very well compared to any dark color. If you go black, the majority of the time, your car will look dirty and not good. If you go silver, your car will appear cleaner and hence nicer.

It seems to me like you're leaning towards black, but you're looking for forum members to try to talk you out of it because you're afraid you'll regret it...

Go with your gut... or you'll regret it.

You seem concerned enough that you'll take care of the car, so I wouldn't even worry. As someone said, a few good coats of wax before the harsh weather hits makes a big difference. Consider that some people make a living out of making old cars look new...

Just my opinion...

Just got a black/black TSX,.........from toronto (lots of snow/ice/salt blah blah),........not concerned. Neither is my neighbour,.....or the two black TSX's I have seen driving around my friends house a few blocks away it would seem. If you take good care of your car and work at it (as you have said you have no problem with doing),......I dont think you have anything to worry about. Get what colour you really want,.........thats what I did.

I have black and keep it immaculately clean despite having two little kids. Everybody knows do NOT touch daddy's car. I looked at CGP and it just looked too blah to me. Nothing's better than black when it's clean and waxed but you have to be careful parking, etc. and you have to clean and wax it.

I don't think the CGP would be that much better at hiding scratches and dirt.
