Big, Big Mistake....

The other day I drove my friend's car in stick, and I remembered how fun it is to drive a stick car. I now regret a whole lot about getting the TSX in automatic as opposed to stick. I'm thinkin about getting a manual car maybe from the early 90's or late 80's that i can drive around every now and then when I have the urge to drive stick. You guyz have any suggestions?

I've owned my 5-speed '90 Miata for 7 years and wouldn't part with it for the world, but one day's commute in it makes me happy I went with the AT in my TSX.

Ha Ha finally hit you. Once a stick driver always a stick driver. Unfortunately I am also have a MT in my TSX. However. If my TSX was stick, it would not have made a difference. First of all I believe if you drive stick, your car should be quick. There for why buy a TSX if you want it in manual. It is considered luxury and not a sports car. If I wanted a stick shift car, I should of got a G35 coupe, Bmw M3, or build another Civic. But again, I do live in Los Angeles, and traffic gets bad sometimes. Go for a 92'+up civic, with B18c1 Motor (Acura integra) Its a fun ride!

Suck it up, wait 17 more months and trade in your automatic for the hot new version of the TSX that Justin says is on its way. P.S. don't forget to order the manual next time!

I am a bit of the opposite, I kinda regret not getting the 5AT TSX because its hard for me to sit in stop in go traffic without my feet getting num. However, now I find myself driving my '92 Accord more than anything else and my CR-V on occasions. My TSX just sits on my driveway and has been for the last 2 weeks.

When Spring time comes around it will be time to take the TSX on another road trip, then it will be a joy and excitement. Also, the reason I got the 6 speed in the first place.

Second vote for the Mazda Miata. They're mechanically bulletproof and you can buy one for a song.

Plus, the top goes down.

Coolio I feel the same way - actually that exact thought went through my mind on my commute this AM. And SS is not the same, not even close

This is backwards from most people's thinking. The AT robs you of 5-10% or so of your engine power due to torque converter losses, so any car with an MT will significantly outperform a torque-converter based AT.

In a "fast" car with a big engine, the differences are less noticeable since the delivered power is still large in absolute terms, but in cars with smaller engines, what feels positively anemic with an AT can actually feel rather peppy with an MT.

In most cars (all cars IMHO), I4 + AT =

I test drove both the at and 6sp, and in my opinion, they were two different cars, performance wise and sporty/fun wise. I grew up on manuals but have only owned autos has an adult, and was itching for a sports feel manual combined with practicality and some luxury, hence, the 6sp TSX. Very happy with the 6sp, and I probably would not have gotten an auto TSX, I would have probably opted for a 02 0r 03 TL if I were going the auto route (bigger engine would make the auto more acceptable to me)!

Maybe with enough posts and research, you could find a 6sp TSX owner wishing for an auto!
