Base Ford Focus Just Doesn't Compare!

I got my 80k service done on my TSX yesterday. Turns out that Los Gatos Acura will give you a rental for choosing them to perform scheduled maintenance.

Anyway...so they gave me a base model Ford Focus, and I'm glad they did.

It made me fall in love with my TSX all over again. lol

I do have to admit, though...the Focus doesn't have bad pickup! It does sound like a lawn mower, though. lol

a ford focus cost like what? under $10k for the lowest trim and bone-stock? >_>
Our TSX cost almost three times as much and driving cars like these shows us physically we get what we paid for.

Sadly, I enjoy driving my other car (toyota tercel 95), it has more low end pickup(torque) than my tsx.

Speaking of low end torque, I noticed that even in the new TL's they suffer from DBW Lag as well.

I test drove my friend's 05 TL and it's DBW lag was much worse than the TSX!

For an economy car, the Focus isn't bad at all. The gauges in my rental were easy to read, and the car in general was ok. My only complaint was that the seats were a bit too spongey for me. Other than that, a totally tolerable car IMHO.

If something horrible happened to my TSX, it's probably the type of car I'd be looking at next! lol

why are we even comparing these two cars?!?!

I always saw the focus hatch back as a direct responce to the 96-00 Civic hatch, or shall i say poor response haha.

Why did the Acura dealer give you a Ford Focus loaner? What did you ever do to them to deserve such disrespect?

My Acura dealership gave me an 07 MDX w/tech package this morning as a courtesy car.

I had a ford focus as a rental a few weeks ago in Denver. The pickup was decent and overall I was impressed with the suspension setup. There was minimum body roll even on the mountain roads.

The interior was sparse but it defenetly has build-up potential.

I wasn't trying to compare them, I was just stating that a day of driving a Focus made me appreciate and fall in love with my car all over again...is all. lol

Oh, and I always thought the Focus Hatchback was retarded. Then again, I've never been a fan of hatchbacks.

All the dealers I called (Hopkins Acura of Redwood City (because I work in Menlo Park), Sunnyvale Acura, Stevens Creek Acura) didn't even offer loaner/rentals except on major services...so I don't know. Los Gatos Acura would give me a loaner if my car had an Acura extended warranty...but since I don't have an Acura extended warranty (mine is through Hendrick Autogard), they gave me a rental instead.

No complaints here. I don't care what alternative transportation I have...it just needs to get me to work and back.
