Bad motor mounts?

I have an '05 6MT with only 45K miles and I seem to be getting a lot of engine movement when driving. Just about every time I shift it feels like the engine/tranny jerks back and forth. This makes it hard to shift smoothly. Other than taking it to the dealer, how do I know if the mounts are bad or going bad in my car? What are the signs? Would an Ingalls Stiffy help?

I haven't heard of the motor mounts going bad on the TSX. How long have you owned the car? Is this a recent development, or has it persisted as long as you've owned it? The Ingalls Stiffy absolutely helps; I loved mine until I had to remove it (due to my supercharger's tensioner setup). A certain amount of engine movement is normal and is simply going to happen unless you

a) install stiffer engine mounts (not an option for our car as nobody produces aftermarket mounts)
or
b) install an engine torque damper (such as the Ingalls Stiffy; contact forum vendor Excelerate to pick one of these up at a good price)

if you have bad engine mounts, does it make your car shake while idling?

Your shocks are probably bad.

When your shocks wear out the front of your car travels more and makes it feel like your motor is moving when its really just your suspension.
