Apart from the gee-whiz gadget appeal, what does this add to the car? I ask, not to be snarky, but as a Saint-Exupéry adherent: (paraphrasing) "... Perfection is achieved not when nothing more can be added, but when nothing more can be taken away."

I've seen cars parked at meters get their mirror ripped off by passing cars.
Easier to push a button than to go out and do it manually, plus it looks
classier.

(Another example.) Here at work, in a multi-level parking garage, the inner slots on the ramp are pretty much for compacts only, but not labeled. Employees regularly, frequently complain about people in larger cars who park there, and leave no room for adjacent cars to open their doors. I see garages and parking spots regularly which are "downsized" so as to boast "more slots." I hate it, but it's a real concern when minivans, upscale SUVs, and larger sports cars need to park. I just saw a Lambo at Red Robin, and the owner parked right in front, no doubt where he could keep an eye out. In these situations, I can quite understand the OP's interest.
