auto on/off headlights?

I did a search on this, but couldn't find it. Does the TSX have auto on/off headlights?

You mean do they turn off after a while if you turn off and exit your car? The answer is yes.

I'm pretty sure they do. If you shut off your engine I think your lights will go off after you lock the doors

I think I read it in the manual somewhere. If someone has their manual with them, could they double check

TSX headlights are manual, not automatic. I.E. You need to turn a switch to turn them on or off. There is no sensor.

However, if you shut your car off with the light switch in the on position, they will shut off automatically.

The lights have to be turned on/off manually. However , if you do forget to turn them off..your car will beep if the door is open to notify you that you left them on. If you still leave them on, after you close the door, they will shut off automatically after about 10-15 seconds.

Not to hijack the thread, but who here leaves their lights on when exiting the car at night? Sometimes it is nice to have your lights come on when you unlock the doors.

Is there any reason not to do this? I've noticed they turn off and then turn back on for 10 secs or so, and I dont know if its hard on them to turn on & off constantly. thoughts?

It will be really good if they can auto on the headlights .. Sometimes i forgot switching on the lights ...

I remember having this in a Corolla. The lights come up automatically in the night..

i think a some people know the lights will turn off automatically and they use that as a security feature at night. may be useful when parking in strange places or when you have to open a door. it's a giant flashlight for your key fob.

When I first got my TSX, pulling out of the dealer I didn't have my lights on driving home. My wife though it was weird that the console was so dark (remember the dashboard does light up). I though they came on automatically, it's a Acura, right?

The salesmen must have been cracking up.

My Jeep GC has auto headlights. They switch on at dusk and you can pick how long they stay on after the car is shut off (up to 90 sec). I love the feature, you never have to touch the light switch. Another neat feature it has is you can program the headlights to come on when the windsheild wipers are turned on. I was very surprised to learn that the TSX did not have auto headlights. I guess you can't have everything you want, unless you have lots of $$$.

I suppose if you leave the light switch on all the time, then the lights will auto turn on when you start the car, and it will also auto turn off when you lock the door.

If I go out at night, I always leave the lights on. It's funny to watch peoples' reactions as they walk by and the HIDs light them up.

they're only auto off headlights for when you turn off the ignition. but they will still be on if it's the next morning and you don't realize they're still on. so basically.....it's manual on manual off. but if you forget to turn off your headlights, it doesn't let your battery die by turning them off for you (and it looks really cool too).

My other car is a Volvo XC70 and this is what I do. It does have daytime running lights so when the switch is off only daytime running lights on, it also allows you to turn off all lights including daytime running lights and of course all lights on. I leave the switch in the on position since its like the TSX and will turn them off and on with the ignition. The only drawback is your will go through bulbs faster this way but its much safer in all weather.

I also leave my lights on all the time. It helps as a security feature at night, but also a good way to locate the car in shopping malls.

I have a question though. Are there any negative effects for leaving the HIDs on all the time? My main concern is when you lock the car, it shuts the lights off for about a second. Will this blinking kill the HIDs life?
