Whatcha plan on putting in there? I've got my iPod going with an InCase power source and aux plug port on it using the bottom of the iPod. Sounds great!

Off topic... but related.

I've got my iPod plugged into the aux port and it sounds like total shit. I'm really hoping the GLI fixes this, in which case I'll pull out the console and wire the GLI in line with the aux's cable run.

Do most people have this issue? Or do you just plug in your favorite device and it sounds good? I'd like to know if something is wrong with mine but I have no way of telling... yet.

I got this Incase adapter and with the cable plugged into the charger, it sounds good. You might want to try that one out. It also has a plug for home outlets too.

Knox, you can't like to stuff in the Apple store like that, its session dependant... I'd like to know what you're recommending, try to find an alternative like that will work.
Thanks.

I should say though, I don't think its connection dependent. I've tried both the Belkin charger + line-out device and a direct patch from the headphone jack to the aux signal, both sound like ass.

If I were to scale it on 1-10, I'd say CD is a 10 for reference, XM is an 8, and FM is a 5, and AUX is a 3. Its that bad, worse than FM.

Hmm...personally, I think it sounds better than my XM connection but that's just me. To each their own I guess.

I bought a 3.5mm 2 male adapter Apple IPOD branded high quality cable at Circuit City for $20 instead of buying a cheapie $10 dubbing cable to do the same task. I then have the one side of the 3.5mm plugged into a radioshack 3.5 to 2.5mm plug that goes into my new PPC-6700 bluetooth windows media player PDA Sprint phone.

The IPOD cable has thick plug heads that almost makes it impossible to plug into the recessed slot in the console. It kept popping out. The navi audio display will not go to AUX mode unless this cable is securely plugged in. So I will probably return it and just stick with the cheap dubbing cable.

theres no way that this is true. this should be the exact same as cd quality. its the same as plugging into rca's on a home stereo, but your just changing from rca's to and 1/8" stereo mini-plug. Or having an auxilary input on an aftermarket cd player for your car. when i pick up my 06 TSX this week, ill have to check it out. but if your pluggin in your ipod and you have very low kbs encoded mp3's, say a 64 or 128 bit encoding, your songs arent going to sound that great. im not going to go into the sound quality and varied dynamics of different levels of mp3 and vbr mp3 encoding, but i just have to call shananigans on this, no way AUX is worse than FM or XM, no frickin way! no offense.

OK, good news, I got fed up with it, went to the Shack, and bought a GLI. It fixed 95% of the noise. I'm much happier with it now. Although, I'm thinking of pulling out the entire center console at hardwiring it in the cable run. Put that on my extensive to-do list.

My iPod is filled with my home ripped mp3s, which are all between 192-224k VBR alt-lame-3xtreme. The quality of the music isn't the issue, I regularly use my iPod on my home theater system as well. Although some loss is due to the compressoin and the iPod, the noise was entirely the TSX.

At least its good to know I didn't have too much of a defect, and a $15 piece solved it. If you're bugged by yours, I highly suggest the Radio Shack GLI.

Now that makes a little more sense. IMO you weren't really clear in your eariler posts about this being a noise issue.
