Attention 6MT owners

Need some help...

I am having trouble getting a smooth shift from 1st to 2nd. I remember a thread at the old place about this but I cant find it.

Every other shift is fine but 1-2 bogs or jerks a little. I remember reading it may be something to do with getting used to the drive-by-wire or hanging the rpms high for emmisions. Does anyone have any tips on getting a smooth 1-2 shift? Did you have to adjust your driving style at all?

I am not the greatest manual driver and I have only had the car 1 day so I am assuming I will slowly figure it out but I thought would get some advice from the experts

1-2 shift

Yup, you'll learn to smooth it out after a while. But I have to admit that I still run across it sometimes (I think it might be more pronounced with the A/C on). I find giving it a little extra gas, sooner, does the trick. The TSX seems to favor a quick shift too -- none of this lazy cruising stuff.

Yeah, you have to shift faster. If you take your time with the shift, you really have to give it some gas to get the RPM's back up for a smooth shift. For some reason, the 1-2 shift the RPM's drop really quickly when you push in the clutch, a lot faster than they do during the rest of the shifts. I think it has to do with the gearing, and how close the gears are together.

i find that i give a little extra gas right before my transmission gets into 2nd gear. it helps it get a little smoother... but i still have much to learn on a MT.

My manual 5SPD Accord (01) was ten times worse! No, make that 20 times... I am serious.

I'm extremely adapt at standards (over 20 years manual driving) and the Accord was a challenge.....

1st to 2nd..... improved after 20K .... it's not you, it's Honda!!

I've only noticed this on the TSX 3 or 4 times (very MILD version).

Don't worry. Do as everyone says.. give it a little more gas!

In time, you'll master it. This is a FANTASTIC tranny. One of the best in my opinion.

Good luck,
