Anyone thinking of selling the TSX for a new V6 Accord?
#41
How are the performance on the new 4 cylinder accord compare to our tsx.
are they beating us both MT VS MT and AT VS AT? 0-60mph & Quarter Mile.
I can't believe the new accord has 200hp.......
Thanks

Why would you want this car to be something its not anyway? Lots of other choices out there.

This review of the new Accord makes a convincing case that it steals styling from the BMW 5 series: http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/?p=5455 When I did a side by side of the dash board I was shocked by the obvious similarity.

it's quite simple.
Baby boomers got more money.
American's waist lines increase and so do the dimensions of the car.
We all want more for less
The Civic is now about the same size as the accord was in 1996 (that gen.)
Nearly every car will have dimensions increased. The Accord is huge by the way the length is ridiculous.

I'm looking forward to seeing one on the road, I don't think I'm realy grasping their enormity with pictures alone.
It could be funny reading about this in history books one day - during the obesity epidemic all classes of cars increased in size by 30% to their relative size two decades earlier so that American auto-consumers wouldn't perceive that their cars had become smaller as they became fatter.

I just traded in my 05 TSX for a V6.... a V6 Infiniti G35!
Agree with those who think the Accord's styling (sedan at least) isn't all that great. When I saw the new Accord sedans on the road, I thought they were Saturns or something.
Honda/Acura almost always have impeccably styled interiors. Why can't they get their exteriors right?

It seems like a silly financial decision just for a horsepower upgrade. It still has FWD and doesn't look like the highest end model has a luxury advantage. At the very least you should maybe hold out for the redesigned TSX. You'll probably get similar horsepower, more luxury and AWD....not to mention the new TSX won't be another vanilla Accord in a sea of vanilla Accords (trust me, in the next year, you will see the new Accords all over the place).

i saw a TSX and the new Accord sedan 8th gen side by side, this new Accord from the rear doesn't even look like a Honda car anymore! The new Accord sedan might become like the Avalon, kind of Buick like, ugh. But, the Accord coupe, dang! The 8th gen coupe and 6th gen coupe are the hottest Accords ever!
Only thing is I would feel like I downgraded from Acura to Honda because of the fact Honda dealers don't give loaners, factory warranty isn't as long, no HIDs in the Accords, and interior materials aren't as good.
Acura cars have more prestige than Hondas even though Acura's are at the bottom of the barrel in terms of luxury perception compared to Lexus, Infiniti, Audi, Cadillac, Mercedes, and BMW.

My neighbor has an 08 Accord Sedan v6...yea the engine is nice..but overall I don't like it...I think my 01 CL-S is much better looking but I'm comparing 2 door to 4 door there. IMO even the Accord coupe still doesn't look better than my 01 CL-S even if it is slightly slower...of course I have some aftermarket parts.
As far as my TSX vs my neighbors accord...IMO TSX is 10X better looking/sharper than the accord. I'm waiting for the 09 tsx hp #'s to go up. If its 240hp that will be close to the same 0-60 #'s and 1/4 times as the current heavier/bigger accord.
My vote keep the tsx and wait for the next gen tsx to trade in towards.

I agree totally; first time I saw it I thought for sure it was a Saturn. And since it's bigger than an RL, maybe it should be compared to that car instead of the TSX.

(attn. those without a humor detector: tongue is firmly in cheek)
Is it the 2008 Accord which has several rows of red LEDs for brake lights? ... I H.A.T.E. that. It looks like *#^%. Annoying and gaudy. YMMV.
What's with the teeny weeny little lights below the brake lights? Ran out of room for the turn signals? What's with the upside-down door handle?
I think I've seen one of these in my work garage. Hello, Honda-Buick. Intriguing on first blush, but after looking at the lines, <strike>I wonder what they were smoking</strike> ... okay from the side it's a little more slippery looking.
I also agree that this front end looks like a bargain car, e.g. Saturn or Ford. I think the 2005/2006 RSX looks way better than this.
Putting my snarkiness away, though, I find the description in this Edmunds Accord EX-L V6 long term test report kick-off, for a car costing $31,000, it sure sounds nice, and the gas mileage is appealing too. Would I ditch my TSX for it? Nope.

With the sedan, the design is way to gimmicky to me. Hofmeister kink here, cut line there, overtly bold grill here.
Its like they played pin the design gimmick on a Hyundai Sonata. And it looks like they played blindfolded and drunk.

I remember when the current Gen Sonata first came out people were saying that the design was too derivative and it looked like an accord. Seems like the folk at honda decided to "flip it and reverse it" and make the new accord derivative of the sonata.

I would think taht most TSX drivers would favor nimbleness and handling over big HP numbers. In that case I don't see many jumping ship to the accord since their size difference has grown so much.
