Anyone else bothered...

by the fact that there will be a 6 speed Honda Civic with 200hp shortly? It seems that Honda is canabalizing it's products. If the 4 door Civic or Accord had more style, I may have to jump to these cars since they are cheaper in price.

That's why you don't invest in cars.

But lately cars are getting new features so fast it's almost like computers, you buy one and two years later it's outdated. That's life, at least you know in 2 years you'll be able to buy a much better car.

It will be loud. RSX type s loud. No I would not buy a 2.0 making 200hp. My ears would say " no mas". I have test driven the RSX-s and its just too much of a party.

Not too sure the car is "loud". The only thing making my Type S loud is inside the body of the car, maybe the way it's insulated or whatever. The engine/ exhaust note is no where close to loud, only road noise at high rates of speed is loud in that car.
Personally, I love it.

I love my 04. I don't care what other cars there are, as I'm going to have this one until 2014. Buy something you need and that you're happy with, not because of what other people may have.

All manufacturers have to stagger their full model changes, no one is going to pay to put 100 engineers on each platform. Honda, like all other manufacturers, do their full model changes with the next full model change in mind.

In case no one has noticed, Honda has a 5 year cycle on its cars (after 3 years there's a facelift, after 5 years its full model change). The TSX is coming up on its facelift (new in 03) and the Civic is due for its full model change (new in 01).

The TSX will get a big bump in the Honda/Acura line up at its next full model change, but in the mean time a face lift and some extra ponies is all thats in the cards. No manufacturer can afford to do full model changes every 2 years, unless sales were completely flopping.

The 06 Civic is an awsome car, but I don't think it will hurt TSX sales... it will certainly hurt RSX sales... but that car is on its way out anyways. It is definitely louder and more sport oriented, but at the same time you can't get some of the amenities TSX owners enjoy.

Myself personally I will consider turning in the TSX for the Civic, but the plan remains to get the Civic for the wife, keep the TSX as the commuter, and pick up the next full model change STi.... only snag... she thinks she wants a hybrid

I am only bothered by the high possibility that lots of kids (even more than already...?) will be zooming around with too much power than they know how to control.

Not totally true.... consider the MDX, RSX, S2000, and NSX.

it's bound to happen in order to keep up with change.

i'm sure Mercedes is uber pissed over the fact that most cars these days have ABS, airbags, and other technologies that MB first pioneered. :P

SUV's are on a 6 year cycle (±1 year depending on sales). The S2K and NSX are image vehicles and far too expensive to FMC on the regular schedule.

As for the RSX... you can take the fact that it hasn't been through FMC on schedule as an indication whats in store for that model.

i have no need to switch cars every x years...

06 civic would be a nice car to have as a second car though. but that's it, "nice to have."

MB came up with ABS first??? I thought it was BMW inventing ABS and used it on their bikes first?!? please enlighten me...

Also about airbags, I really don't know but I've seen a GM TV ad in which they say airbag was their invention...

BTW, neither company "invented" airbags or ABS, Bosch invented ABS, and volvo was just the first company to put airbags into full swing in a production car. However, GM was one of the frontrunners in airbag technolgy implementation.

Here's some more...the 3rd gen Integra was facelifted after 5 years and redesigned after 8. The 1st gen CL was refreshed after 1 year and lasted only 3 years.

I like my 6MT TSX in every ways except its speed. If I don't launch it hard (meaning just normal driving, shifting at 3000-4000 rpm) from a stop light with a civic by my side, usually they are the same speed, or even slower than a civic. Although I buy a TSX not for its speed, but... not so slow as a civic... i don't know if it's just me who got annoyed sometimes.

Two things:
1) the 200HP value is not based on the new SAE 8/04 standard -- so it'll likely be spec'd at around 190HP SAE 8/04
2) the "200HP" 6MT Civic is the Si which is only available as a coupe
