anyone change valve cover gasket yet?

when I had my inspection done last year, it was recommended that I change my valve cover gasket. It looks pretty evident that it needs to be changed now because there's oil around the cover.

Has anyone ever changed theres? and if you did, did you change the spark plug tube seals also? I see online only for the gasket and a gasket kit with all the seals and washers.

You could try cleaning off the oil residue and check the torque setting on the mounting nuts first. If replacement is required, you should replace the spark plug seals as well. Also, while you have the cover off, I would check the valve clearance at the same time.

Since when is a little oil leak an inspection issue? Is this a state registration inspection?

Does anyone know the torque spec for the bolts/nuts holding down the valve cover gasket. When I got my new tires Monday at Firestone, they said the valve cover gasket is leaking...I don't see any leak from up above. But, my oil level is down about 2/3 quart after 6 months and about 2,000 miles since my last oil change. Diagram of the bolts/nuts I should check to torque of would also be greatly appreciated....THANKS
