Almost had one, now gonna wait...

I almost bought one last week but the internet manager and the sales manager had two different numbers. I had a figure of 28300 OTD, including doc fees, tax, tag and license. We almost had this done over the phone and email, then I would drive down to the dealer to pick it up. Well, the internet manager had to go somewhere and I talked to sales manager to finalize. To put a long story short, he said he wasn't going to include the sales tax (which is about 800 bucks) and then I told him the internet guy told me the OTD include sales and I had the email. Anyway, he said he couldn't do it for that price and I told him I'm not going to pay over 29k for that car. We pretty much left it at that.

I'm willing to wait a little longer, probably the end of the year to get the deal or even a better one (more than likely). I know I can get it for my figure (or better). They need me, more than I need them.

I guess I'll have to drive my beat up car for a while longer... woot! It almost has 200,000 miles on it. I'm sitting on 199,870 miles right now. What a milestone!!! It has never had an issue.

Sounds like the sales manager really screwed you. Why not wait until the internet manager gets back and then set up an appointment?

It would still have to go through the sales manager anyway.

Well, that sucks.

You can still use that e-mail. Take it to nearby dealerships and ask them to beat the price.

I'm assuming that was for a TSX w/ Navi. I think $29,000 OTD is a very good price. I paid $29,025 OTD for a TSX w/ Navi w/ extras of course.

I'd say that since you are only getting wheel locks and pay only $800 in taxes you should be able to get OTD price easily under 28,000 (including tag and license). My taxes were over $2000 and I got factory tint, paint protection, LoJack device and a-spec suspension OTD 29,500.

Here is one of the emails I got from the internet manager at the time....

"Good News, We have available now, a Satin Silver/Ebony TSX with
Navigation. My sales mgr has said sell it for 28,600 out the door, with
wheel locks. I may be able to find a trunk tray to throw in too. Are you
in? Please call me at xxxxxxxxxx and I will provide details. "

Of course I had it down to about 26400 before the hiccup.

Anyway, if I do decide to stick it out near the end of year, I've been reading that I could probably get it around invoice? am I being crazy?

catmando - it's a 1989 Toyota Corrolla. It's treated me really well and sometimes I wonder how there are new cars on the side of the interstate.

Just don't let the dealership know your Toyota died. Then they'll know they have the advantage in negotiations.

I haven't.....

I think I'm going with the non-navi OTD(Tax, Tag, Doc fees) for 27500 with wheel locks/trunk tray. It'll be SSM with Ebony interior.

before taxes and stuff, the price is $26342.60

I wish they had some competition but the closest Acura dealership is 90 miles away.

I got a loan for 4.2%.

My 733 credit score does wonders!
