I'm trying to decide between Compustar and Clifford.
The quotes I got are pretty much the same..
(obviously compustar is little more)
Could people who have already experienced in these give any inputs/opinions?
Thank you~

I've heard people with compustar having problems, but I can't remember what. I reserched this a few months ago and decided on the viper. It's a great alarm, but the range doesn't seem to be that great UNLESS there's absolutely no obstruction between you and the car.

i've installed dozens of alarm/remote start before, and i like compustar the most. it is more expensive but it's worth it i think. viper is more user friendly, but it only come with one remote and the remote breaks easily (on the last year's version anyway). i've recently installed 2 autopage 860 and i think they're great. i now have compustar 2w900 on both my TSX and my Civic for over a year now without any problem.

Im holding out for the Clifford Intelleguard 5.5x which made its debut at the 2005 CES. No word yet on its released, even though dealers already recieved lit and brochures on it. Nothing mentioned on Clifford's website either.

BTW: I have Cliffords on all my families cars. TSX, Civic, Tahoe, 7 Accords, E430, Teg, NSX, Navigator, VW Bug, 540, 328.... no problems with any of them. Ive used various models from thier entire lineup, Intelleguard and Matrix series. Solaris series as well.

I have 2 spare Clifford Solaris alarms NIB for sale if anyone is interested.

WOW that looks huge..
I was also looking at the Matrix series as well..3.5 or something.
and for the Compustar...AS? the new 2way with remote starter.

I don't want to have huge chunky remote in my pocket.

And What is the 'issue' that some people have it on Compustar??

To me it looks to be about the same size as the Clifford Matrix 3.5 remotes anyways. Besides I can live with it if it is a little bigger, makes the buttons easier to see and press in the dark. Also from what I understand you can program what icons and functions will appear on the remote.

I left a $300 deposit at a Clifford dealer to reserve one when these are released. With the suggested MSRP, I dont think there will be many buyers or a huge market for these, but I would be willing to buy a few extras for my other cars or family members.

Meh.... stuff like this has been out like 3 years ago using the spread spectrum stuff. The ones iv'e seen have a color display too and a vibrate mode in case it's in your pocket and you can't hear it.

Yeah..by seeing the video clip it's not as big as it looks on the picture beside..
but I'll have to see the spec of it first before I purchase it..
There are colour LCDs, Vibrate modes, Picture taking etc
on Upcoming new products and this 5.5 seems to be a little late in terms of technology.
But I love the navigation wheel button on the side..I really like about that...

I have an 06 tsx and I had a lot of trouble trying to get an alarm with remote start to work. I went to tweeter and got a viper 791, when they went to try to install it my parking lights didn't work nor any of my exterior lights. Do you live in san diego? If so, what's the name of the auto shop you went to, to have your alarm installed.

I live in the Bay Area, Northern CA. I got the Shelby alarm that doesn't have remote start but has pager. Shelby does make a pager alarm w/ remote start. I don't see why your shop would have a problem with it since the installation wiring diagram can be printed for the specific vehicle. I recommend you check out another shop ...

Yes it is, but many of us would like to have a extra layer of security against vandals or potientail thef and having that pager alarm comes in handy..
