AIR FILTERSSSSS (not K&N) papers vs our OEM
ok so i know there are probably lots of air filter threads BUT
this one is for really about our OEM ones.
how good are the OEMs on air flow COMPARED TO purolator? I only ask cause its either the oem from acura or i go to advance auto and get purolator. But how good are the purolators on filtering and airflow vs stock? just really want to know if its safe to go with purolators or are they really no better than K&N if so i guess i would go with oem.
Fram is clearly bad right? and K&N not digging the filtering or lack there of.
so im looking for some advice, or opinions thanks all.
and no i don't want a CAI

A paper filter is a paper filter more or less. There isn't a lot to be worried about from one brand to another. Its not like one of them is going choke your car to death while another will not.
As far as your concerns about the K&N go, they shouldn't be there at all. You aren't trying to keep every spec of dust out of the engine, just the big hard ones. The K&N is notably freer flowing than any of the paper offerings though whether or not it actually makes any meaningful difference is up for debate.
Just buy what you feel like paying for as long as you stay out of the dollar store.

don't really think there's a difference.. i always get a purolator at pep boys and leave it on the seat when i take it in for an oil change and they put it in for me. (yea i know it's easy to do).

Make a hole, coming thru!
I'm about to junk my K&N. I don't think it's that big an improvement (it was on my normally aspirated Jeep's AMC 258-I6 engine), and I like better filtration (emotional comfort). I'm considering the Amsoil (sp?) EA series, but that is again one that you have to "clean and recharge" periodically. Maybe it's big improvement is just marketing-speak.

the oil from the pcv is clogging your intake more than the dirt let through by any air filter.
for air filters to let more air through, they have to let more dirt through. it's a trade off.
