Question Acura Test Drive

Well i went Test driving cars last week 4 i did that i was interested in.

A fully loaded Mazda 3, Acura RSX (auto), Acura TSX with out navi, Toyota Solara SLE

I would say iv narrowed it down to the Solara and TSX with the solara in the lead.

Toyota let me take the solara out by myself for a couple hours which i really got a good feel of the car with out having a salesman in the car which i really like.

When i test drove the Acura tsx, it seemed like a short 10 minute test drive with traffic, i didn't get a good feel of the car although i did like it.

I was wondering do u think Acura will let me take the car out bymyself and drive it for a while? I know its pretty rare but i herd on the RSX forums that some dealers did it.

I took out a tsx by-myself (I was only 22 and I was pretty surprised) but it is definitely the best was to test drive.

I was able to test drive the car for a few hours all by myself but you would need to be a serious potential buyer if they take that chance. Because you must understand that if they start to let everybody go out with the vehicles longer and longer that would cost a lot of money to the dealers.

But again, I seen that the way you are dressed influence a lot of things especially when you are young... I am 24 years old and trust me I experienced it.

For jrob8604, I tried the Solara too, It's not bad too... For myself I liked the idea of having four doors. But other than that this is a real difficult choice. I felt that the TSX was more powerful than the Solara tough and the 6 speed manual is a charm!

I too considered a Solara, but in the end the TSX won out. I think the Solara felt a little too big and the two door thing was a toughy. One other thing was that I really liked the front half of the Solara but really disliked the back half, it looks like two totally different cars. . .

I don't think that Acura dealers would have that much of a problem with a longer solo test drive, if like stated before, you make them realize you're serious. Plus I believe that a lot of the Acura dealerships give TSX's out as loaners, you may be able to arrange to test drive one of those (one that's already got some miles on it).

brotha.... i went to test out the Solara SLE 2 weeks ago.. and after sitting in the solara for 5 min... i started to appreciate how well refined acura has made the tsx interior. Not only that, the Solara was wayyyy too soft on the suspension, that day I actually forgot that i was driving the solara and went too fast at the corners like I would ordinarily do with my tsx... and man, i thought i was gon get tossed out of the driver window when making a right turn. and the V6 didnt really feel that strong, and was fairly slow too compared to the TSX's I4. I have to compliment Solara's dashboard, looks pretty nice, the leather and the wood looks so damn high class, but even on the top of the line Solara SLE, the AM/FM CD player SUCKED! Treble was not as clear as the tsx and the bass was making this cracking noise when i turned the volume not even half way up. I'm not much of a sound system freak, but the treble and the bass on that solara just sounded 3rd world to me. Lastly, the exterior is just......... not very eye-catching, I could imagine if a chick see you passing by, she'd say... "Hi Granpa, nice ride you've got there..." Definitely not my type of ride, dont go for the power/handling of the Solara, but luxury (leather/wood), it's decent. just my 2 cent

My sister owns a 98 Solara SE and that thing is heavy. I drive it at least once a week. Although its a V6, the TSX is way lighter or at least it feels that way and can outrun it without any problems. Also, the handling on the TSX is unmatched by the Solara. If I were you, I'd get the TSX, you'll enjoy it a lot more than the Solara plus it looks way better.

Sorry bro, but a customer of mine was showing me his brand new Solara and it's nowhere near the TSX in anything. He was like "engine-guy" bragging on the fact he has a V6. And I smiled but I wasn't impressed. "How many HP do you have in that thing?" he said to me. When I showed him the nav he almost started crying. Well, not really, but I could see it touched a nerve to know he could have had more features for the same money in the TSX. The voice controls really pissed him off.
