What is "an addative with graphite in it"? Either you are explaining it wrong or this really make no sense. Addative to what?

Ahh..ok..so its some kind of special addative for your engine oil. Are you worried about it damaging your engine or are you worried about paying the $7? If you arent comfortable ask them to explain it to you a little better. I can tell you most definately my dealer didnt sell me this.

Was this in Virginia? If so, the Newport News or Virginia Beach service department?

Yes, they were pretty reliable when I sold there a few years back. I heard more complaints filed from the VA Beach store.

I wonder if Adam Zuckerman is still Sales Manager of that store?

Honda / Acura know what's good for the engine. If Honda felt that an additive was beneficial, then they would have specified it.

Remember Slick 50 (RIP), that Teflon additive? Why didn't the makers of Teflon---Dupont---ever recommend adding Teflon to engines?

Did they tell you... Pure Profit?

The give-away here is the quote "Mr. Hall says they are required to..." Mr. Hall is not Honda Motors USA. They didn't even lie that well and at least say Honda says to or Honda recommends that. Because Honda probably doesn't.

Keep the additive junk out of your engine. For reference, if you are really concerned if the additive is beneficial then you should just go to another dealer and ask if they put it in.

Besides, isn't graphite what you are supposed to be using in your door locks and not an engine?

Just as a follow-up:

I checked the '04 TSX Shop Guide and, surprise, there is no mention of any graphite additives being required to be added in the oil change procedure listed.

Go somewhere else. Using lies to sell additives should not be rewarded.

i would refure and may evern ask them to give me an new oil change without the graphite... graphite is type a carbon, will it clog the internal oil passage? i don't think graphite can sustane high temp.... retain your receipt, make usre the dealer have add "graphite" wirting on the receipt or work order for your own protetion, call Acura to varify this, if Acura do not recomend this, then get a new oild change asap. can't believe dealership is doing this kind of scam..
