My guess is that they would use the redesigned TL, currently US only, as an entry level car in Japan.

japanese people don't want big cars, isn't that the reason the TL wasn't sold there?

They are going to release a new car with a new brand, just like Lexus introduced the new IS with the brand introduction in Japan.

What I'm interested in is whether they're gonna ditch the name Legend. Today the Acura RL is still sold as Honda Legend, and the name Legend is as much a legend in Asia as it was in North America.

I guess you are right but I think their market is changing. The majority of the people will still drive smaller cars because of their narrow streets but some people would want a larger luxury car as a status symbol. That's why Toyota started selling Lexus there. The Japanese are going after S-Class MB and 7-Series BMW buyers over there. Just my

"Entry level?" What about the TL makes it "entry level?"

^what he means is it would likely be a stripped down version. A lot of the standard equipment would be available as options such as leather, etc.
