AC problem (yea...)
Hey guys, I have an 04 TSX with 98k mi. and recently my AC has been acting a little weird.
The past couple of the days the AC would just blow ambient air no matter how low I set the temperature (auto and manual). Today however, both times when I went to turn her on, it would blow ambient air for a couple of minutes and then start blowing cold air like normal.
I just wanted to get some feedback from you guys to help narrow down the cause. It's probably not low on freon since it was blowing cold on and off right? Maybe a bad relay?

yup, i hear it turn on. sometimes when i'm driving, if it starts outputting ambient air i can just turn it off and on until it starts to blow cold air like normal...

Check AC relay as this is easy to replace.
If that is not the problem, it may be AC clutch gap is too large due to wear. Repair is easy but access to the compressor is not.
Compressor must be accessed by removing condensor fan, drive belt, and alternator. Compressor is released from mounting bracket and manipulated slightly (system is not discharged) to access the compressor face. Remove 6mm bolt holding compressor clutch plate, remove a single shim from beneath the clutch plate, and reinstall. Clutch gap should be 20 +/- 6 mils (1/1000 inch).
good luck
